Côte d'Ivoire
Greece was not the word
Pirates

No guess on Roberts. I’ve seen The Princess Bride once and Ronald Reagan (! The actor?) was still president.

Got 'em all but Thumbelina. Guessed the Little Match Girl instead. Was not familiar with "thumb" in either French or Spanish.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

Had Liberia and Cinderella for the misses.

I knew Bartholomew Roberts w/o The Princess Bride reference.

Conquistador, Cinderella

Clam on Alexandra.

Princess Bride may have helped, but I'd have gotten Bartholomew Roberts without it.

I wouldn't have guessed on Beatrix Potter if it wasn't a DD.

Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Drew a blank Thursday.

I would have been tempted to respond "Who is Dwead Piwate Woberts?" as an homage to Andre the Giant as Fezzik

No idea Dread Pirate Roberts was a real person.
Guessed Little Mermaid Friday just to have something.

The three countries came to me in an instant, but the instant was slow to arrive.

My high school Spanish only went up to the wrist.

I've seen Princess Bride just once, and in the theatre, so I probably slept through much of it.
I'm smart and I want respect.

I got spoiled on guerrilla but believe I would have gotten it. I'm giving myself Alexandra as well because my dad responded prematurely. I had Roberts off "dread pirate" but I assumed it was negbait and clammed.

And my streak of always missing one continues...

Fri - Little Mermaid

Going to credit Princess Bride for Roberts as even if I did know it outside the movie, the movie's association is too strong to discredit.
And apparently he wasn't a Black Sails character, coming in to the Caribbean just after the finale per the timeline. (Would have made a good Season 5 character then)
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.
Latest movies (1-10): Everything Everywhere All at Once (10), Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken (6), Black Sunday /1960/ (6), Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (7)

I knew as soon as I saw Friday's category I would be denied my second ever 5/5.

France and Spain came to me quickly, but Greece wasn’t happening; nor guerillas.
Something about the wording of the Friday clue got me and I didn’t get it until well after 30 seconds. I knew pulgar was Spanish for thumb from guitar fingerpicking though.

Didn't go east far enough to get to Greece; had a desperation flail with Wales knowing it was wrong. After the reveal, had a brief flash of Firesign Theater:
"We're going to Greece."
"And swim the English Channel?"

Only guess was "Little Mermaid."

Yep, "Princess Bride" was the key to piracy - including the terminal "s".
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

The Princess Bride was the only reason I got that one.

Wrote down Little Red Riding Hood on Friday.
I would prefer not to.

The Little Mermaid on Friday. Knew Dread Pirate Roberts via darknet's Silk Road (I guess it traces back to The Princess Bride).
