13th game in a row with all clues played.

I heard the S incorrectly added to the author's last name, the CC caught it and at the DD break Alex got to give John's score an expelliarmus.

Youngish people - Do not know the Bourne author or who (the image had me thinking Leif Garrett at first) "comes alive" in 1976

The FJ! category had me write one thing, "SPA". The clue had me smiling as I quickly locked in the correct response. Kristen was the only player 2/2 on wagering clues and I'll apologize ahead of time if over at least two days I botch her name at some point.

It's complete: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6887

DD1: Is that what the stage and lights do to someone? Cody said something after the miss, but I (and the CC) could not figure out his remark about her.

trash: Lerner & Lowe, William & Mary DD, flywheel, thermodynamics DD, Josephine, Rowling, Peter Frampton  , Robert Ludlum  for 10,600 total.
runs: Founding Fathers, Geographic 4, Helpful Web, Languages, Authors' Alma Maters, Energy :)
DD: :D :D :D
Henry VIII & Catherine the Great is a spectacularly bad guess.
FJ: 95% confident it was Socrates

Archive playthrough:

Coryat $42,000 (45R, 1W)
DD 3/3
FJ

Had a hard time with the Entertainment category, only 1/5. Negged with Rodgers & Hammerstein for Lerner & Loewe, oops. Clammed on Perth because I thought it was way farther north than it is, so I was confused. Clammed on chakra for no apparent reason.

Final: wrote down Socrates and thought "I hope it isn't Marc Antony."

Loving seeing 61 clues every day. Keep it up, contestants and producers!

Came here to note this as well. I wonder what's the record?

Today I learned that "Paint it Black" was originally released as "Paint it, Black".

Got FJ after a few seconds of thought.

It honestly didn't even occur to me that the clue would point to a non-leader, so I was completely lost. I threw up my hands at the end and said Antony, so I'm taking this comment as validation that my guess wasn't complete trash.

Too bad we didn't have a triple stumper Final today.

Immediately wrote Socrates, then spent ten seconds thinking about Galileo.. but Galileo is not exactly part of the ancient world LOL. Went back to Socrates so no harm, no foul.

Looks like Cody was on Millionaire a few years back. Fun game overall, congrats to Kristen on the W.

I always thought it was "Painted Black" so at least you were closer than I was.

Why did you want a triple stumper?

I got Socrates pretty quickly but worried it might have been a Roman.

A triple stumper would have resulted in a tie-breaker.

8799 & 8799 = tiebreaker, so chaos is fun

threearruda - thanks for the tip about Cody on Millionaire

Thanks, didn’t catch that. I would have considered not adding the dollar in that scenario.

I cracked up when John said it took him 15 years to read Moby Dick. Perhaps first he should have read the wonderful book by Richard Armour, entitled "The Classics Reclassified," in which he revisited the required reading list and all its inhabitants.

He said (and I paraphrase) that unless you are really interested to learn about the blubber, flukes, digestive system, eye, ear, nose, and throat of the whale, you should simply leap over about eighty chapters in the middle of this book and get right to the climactic hunt. "After all, Ahab isn't the only one entitled to be a skipper."

P.S. Instaget on Socrates. Very nice win by Kristen. Would not be surprised to see her win a few more.

It was nice to see Cody pick up the Hawkman clue after talking about Comic-Con, but William and Mary - he hardly knew ye!

How is Josephine a triple stumper?

I got FJ!, and wrote it down pretty quickly, but I wasn't confident. I think that's the kind of FJ! that the writers love - where you have a good chance of getting it, but where you might not be 100% sure. I know SPA and hemlock with respect to Socrates, and that's about it, but that was enough - I got confused because I though the hemlock might have been suicide, but created (or subconsciously recalled) the correct story in my mind.

I too had Rogers and Hammerstein for Lerner and Loewe - but couldn't come up with Rogers fast enough, so I clammed. Apparently I didn't learn from my mistake. I came up with Rogers in the interim, and tried them for Gilbert and Sullivan instead. Worse error - wrong era.

TIL that it's ta-GAH-log, and not TAG-a-log, like playing a recess game with wood.

Precalled (or pre-thought) the U-CAN states for the four corners, but didn't think they'd ask for all four! That's a mouthful, but I guess the judges give a reasonable amount of extra time. Have they ever asked for five (or more!) items in a clue? To be less cruel, they could have given one state....

Disappointed that the DDs went 1/3 - I know very little about William and Mary other than the college and that they're paired British royals that J! loves. Of course, with everyone getting a DD, the one who got hers right wound up winning - as it should be.
