Here was Juster's opinion on the film, as cribbed from Wikipedia: "It was a film I never liked. I don't think they did a good job on it. It's been around for a long time. It was well reviewed, which also made me angry."
I saw it recently and didn't think it was very good. Nostalgic to see Butch Patrick though. David Hyde Pierce reads the audiobook and I enjoyed that more.

Finally, a children's book that I've actually read and liked. :)
Would've been around 1974 or so.

It's not like it was an easy book to adapt. I think they did pretty well with what they had. He was entitled to his opinion.

The Phantom Tollbooth is a wonderful book and a pretty decent film, whatever Juster thought of it. I hope he was more pleased with Chuck Jones's adaptation of his book The Dot and the Line, which won the 1965 Oscar for Best Animated Short Subject.

I like that Andra Day won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama for her role as Billie Holiday in The United States vs. Billie Holiday. It's easy to remember that Andra Day played Lady Day.

The movie was good/ok. Very sad. It sort of reminded me of the film Judy which was also sad.

Well, that escalated quickly.

https://news.avclub.com/jpg-sells-for-6 ... 1846461834
...a JPG titled Everydays—The First 5000 Days, by the digital artist Beeple, became the highest-selling digital artwork of all time. After a flurry of last-minute bids, the artwork—consisting of a collage of 5000 images Beeple (real name Matt Winkelmann) has made, one-a-day, for the last several years—sold for a reported $69 million.
~
Among other things, this makes Everydays the third-most expensive piece of art ever sold whose artist was still alive, clocking in only behind Jeff Koons and David Hockney in that particular race.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.
Latest movies (1-10): Everything Everywhere All at Once (10), Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken (6), Black Sunday /1960/ (6), Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (7)

Sad to hear about Marvin Hagler. He was indeed marvelous, even changing his name so he would be introduced as Marvelous Marvin Hagler.

The first round of his fight against Thomas Hearns is one of the best boxing rounds ever.

From the looks of it, the supplemental list will not change from year-to-year, except for any retired names.

What amused me is that they're dropping Greek letters like Gamma, and then added ... Gemma.

I suggest the World Meteorological Organization consider the Geek alphabet as an alternative for naming storms: AT-AT, BTC, CON, D&D, HTML, J!, L33T, NERV, RPG, SG1, TARDIS, USB, XMEN, and so on.

George Segal = 1977's Rollercoaster in Sensurround

Sad to see the news of his passing. I've posted previously what a fun surprise it was to see him go by in a car when I attended the taping in 2014 for the 2000s portion of the BotD.

RIP "Pops" - The Goldbergs will have to add something at the end (or beginning) of tomorrow's new episode.

A couple of poignant notes of music and a few seconds with this at the end:

I think I read that George Segal worked through episode 16, so two more. There might be more of a tribute after that one.

I would question the relevance/importance of this death and the minimal odds of it ever coming up anywhere in trivia, but I guess that's your prerogative.

Oh no! He was client of mine for one of my most fun projects when he was president of the AL. He was a really nice guy. He got me tickets to the All-Star game at Camden Yards. I went down to his box near the field to thank him, and he was talking to Peter Ueberroth. Then he gave me a hard time for having a Mets cap on. RIP, Dr. Brown.

His roommate on road trips in the minors was Yogi Berra. I wonder what kind of conversations a future heart surgeon had with Berra.

I'm gonna go with, "befuddled".
