Perhaps a very deep dive, but the name is iconic enough that it's conceivable it might pop up.

Bombardier has announced that after 58 years of continuous production, Learjet production will cease before the end of 2021.

In volcano news, a newcomer enters the game! (I've done Ring of Fire, Iceland and Italy, but no Caribbean entry yet)

On Friday, the small Caribbean island of St. Vincent [of St. Vincent and the Grenadines] became the epicenter of the seismic world when La Soufriere volcano sent a cloud of ash flying 20,000 feet (6,096 meters) into the sky and streaming across the Atlantic.

Right-handed pitcher Joe Musgrove threw a no-hitter on April 9 against the Texas Rangers. It is the first no-hitter ever by a Padres pitcher.

I'm not absolutely certain about this, but I believe the San Diego Padres were the last remaining MLB team never to record a no-hitter in franchise history.

[Hideki] Matsuyama won the Masters on Sunday, his first major, and in doing so, became the first Japanese male golfer ever to win a major tournament (two Japanese women, Chako Higuchi and Hinako Shibuno, won at the 1977 LPGA and 2019 Women’s British Open, respectively).

2 similar pop culture names to watch out for.

Musical guest Phoebe Bridgers smashed her guitar at the end of her performance of "I know the End" on Saturday Night Live on February 6.

Not to be confused with

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, creator of the Emmy Award-winning comedy Fleabag, who is rumored to have been cast in the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie.

Bernard Madoff has died in prison at the age of 82. Madoff's investment advisory business was exposed in 2008 as a Ponzi scheme that wiped out people’s fortunes and ruined charities. He is said to have been so hated that he wore a bulletproof vest to court.

Winning at 83 for The Father, Sir Anthony Hopkins becomes the oldest actor ever to win an Oscar—male or female—beating out Christopher Plummer, who was 82 when he won in 2012 for Beginners.

In addition to Anthony Hopkins becoming the oldest winner of an acting Oscar, here are a few more Academy Award milestones reached in 2021:

Nomadland (2020) is the first film to win both the Best Picture and Best Actress Oscar since 2004’s Million Dollar Baby, which starred Hilary Swank. As a producer of Nomadland, Frances McDormand made some history of her own, becoming the first winner for Best Picture and Best Actress in the same year.

• McDormand is now the seventh person to win at least three Academy Awards for acting: The others are Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Daniel Day-Lewis, Ingrid Bergman, Walter Brennan (yup), and Katharine Hepburn, who won four acting Oscars.

• McDormand has won all three times she's been nominated for Best Actress but lost all three times she was nominated for Supporting Actress. Her leading performance wins were for Nomadland, Fargo, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Her three supporting nominations were for Mississippi Burning, Almost Famous, and North Country. (I just noticed that all six of her nominations were for films whose titles contained a real or fictional place name.)

Nomadland director Chloé Zhao joins Kathryn Bigelow as the only two women to win the Oscar for Best Director. Zhao is also the first woman of color to win the directing award.

Nomadland set a new record as the lowest-grossing Best Picture winner ever, a record previously held by the $17 million domestic gross for The Hurt Locker.

• Glenn Close ties Peter O’Toole for the most acting nominations (8) without a win. (O’Toole was given an Honorary Oscar.)
