I bet you could find a story from 1952 that matches Laura's "wrong" FJ answer.

No reason not to include the title and author to pin the clue (A Sound of Thunder by Ray Bradbury).

It's Sci-Fi week on Jeopardy, apparently, not that I mind.

Not real clear, but this gives an idea of Laura's ink work that she chatted about with Katie: https://hemisphericinstitute.org/en/enc ... tacer.html

FERRIS & OBSERVATION WHEELS will feel relevant to San Franciscans watching since the one in Golden Gate Park is always in the news locally. After the wheel was supposed to be there for a year starting in April 2020 the pandemic had it shut down before it could get going. As of now after a new lease it could be there for four years if the deal does not get changed. Lights, noise, danger to birds/other wildlife, etc. have had some on one side quite upset while others think it's a great asset in a tourist driven city.

Lindsey lost 3800 on DD2 and then went down to 3000 on DD3 which he got right. Lindsey trailed for the FJ! round by 2400, so a more daring bet on DD3 and he could have won the game.

DD2's wording limits it to Robert Frost and his poem while credit to Lindsey for managing to have a word with the required 16 letters and in the ballpark.

The FJ! category had me precall Verne, Bradbury and Asimov. Fine, so far.

The clue had me figuring it could be the right author going off the year. The problem was I did not know the insect. Not liking any of my choices of cricket, grasshopper and bee, I went with ant for at least being 1950s sci-fi as I recalled Them!.

Nice by the guys to both get it. It was not going to happen for me unless Kutcher gave the clue.

Zach was 2/2 on wagering clues and today that was enough to take the title.

Tuesday is in the books: https://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6963

For those that get triggered by the first segment going beyond 15 clues? Today it was 17.

Somewhat Timely Ted Cruz Clue.

No Idea on Final.

As a fan of the concept of time travel, this was an easy FJ.

There should have been a BMS on Cartels $1000. They wanted the name of the law and the player just gave the Senator.

I like that Katie doesn't lean too hard into the "we were looking for". That was really grating by the 700th time I heard Mike Richards say it.

Liked the band category. I got all but OK GO.

"Eye of London" is completely unfamiliar to me.

Katie shares my love of kalamata olives, it seems.

This was easy to put together, but I just couldn't noodle it. Time travel + insect should have been a slam dunk for "butterfly", but I just got too snagged on the smaller bugs and couldn't work my way upward. For some reason, butterflies aren't stored in my brain as "insects" even though I know they are.

Its correct name is the London Eye.

Ugh I would have bet the farm on that YOU LOSE DD. Damn you Clay Aikin!

LT: Book of Kells, Poland, Volga, Paul Ryan, Perseus

No guess on Final. I wrote fly after swatting away cockroach

Overall, I feel that Katie has a flat affect as guest host, but she manages to show up and emote a few times per episode. I don’t mind her, but she’s not The One

runs: Picture the Music, Cartels,
DDs: :x (9 & 15) :D
trash: Book of Kells, Poland, environmentalist DD, Volga,
FJ: Butterfly, thinking of Butterfly Effect. Instaget.
I also thought they wanted the Kraken. Very poorly worded IMO. This is the kind of slop Alex weeded out.

I thought so too at first, but remembered it's routinely referred to as the Sherman Act. He said "Who is...," sure, but the question part of the response doesn't have to be accurate...
EDIT: I just realized Act wasn't in the clue. OK, maybe I'm inclining the other way again...but I assume this was the rationale,anyway...

FJ left me baffled, but of course it seems obvious in retrospect...

...this hero saved Andromeda... Standard Jeopardy! phrasing. Also, the Kraken is part of Greek mythology only in Clash of the Titans. It's a Scandinavian monster.

Agreed on Katie. She doesn’t seem to have a lot of energy to me as a host. Kind of an anti-Mike as he was over-the-top at times. She is doing a good job moving the game along. Granted, it has only been two games but I would rank her third but she’s not bad enough to make me want to sit out the next eight games. I do like that she seems passionate about her charity because of her sad connection.

I was unfamilar with the Bradbury story so best I could do was a wag (grasshopper). But I've always thought the "butterfly effect" has to do with how something seemingly insignificant (an example often given is the flapping of a butterfly's wings in the Amazon) eventually leading to something of large significance (say, a storm far removed from the Amazon). Is this concept part of the Bradbury story?
