Re: Thursday, April 29, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Another extended credits roll and not surprising considering how good today's game went.
Funny about the HISTORIC GOVERNORS category and the "Austrian Oak" clue being relevant with Gavin Newsom up for recall and names like Randy Quaid and Caitlyn Jenner on the possible replacement list.
Emily took more than full advantage of DD3 by making it work for the lead and a huge pay day.
I joined the players for the solve as I have done enough crossword puzzles to be familiar with the word. My precall list was short with syzygy and knowing it would not be Supercali...
The article that Kirk linked in the media thread has these lines:
Faced with the same scenario as Neumann, she also lost in her second game to "a person who was amazing. It was the last game of the day, so I don’t know if she went on to win other games. But I hope that she did because she was great."
Last game of the day? That has to be some kind of recall lapse by Leah. Nothing else can make sense. Or Leah stayed to watch the Friday game and...
That tipped me off to today's result though the path there was unexpected. Emily won the J! round with 8000 though needed $9000 on her DD to have the slim $1400 lead. I thought I was going to see a more dominating demonstration yet Emily's Coryat in the DJ! round was only 3200.
Yes, Emily's opponents were quite good, but 11200 Coryat does not move the needle. The end result was certainly worthy of posting a contestant picture six days ago on Reddit to announce a contestant appearance though.

It's done: https://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7012
DICE ROLL NAMES - I was not sure whether to go with numbers or to spell them out
For DJ! 30 I went with what the CC had of "Sweet Generous" although I can't find that nickname with a quick Google search and it seems strange to go with "one of a kind".

Having spent way too much time in poker rooms and casinos in a lucrative former life, I have never heard the term Jimmy Hicks. And as a third row clue above a natural 7 and acey deucy? That’s just goofy.
If it were me, I’d move acey deucy to the third row and put “centerfield” at the bottom.
Mark, I agree with numbers for the dice rolls.

I'd actually put acey-deucy in the top box. In my view, it's the easiest one of the bunch to figure out if you've never heard it before (with snake eyes a close second).Golf wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 3:35 pm Having spent way too much time in poker rooms and casinos in a lucrative former life, I have never heard the term Jimmy Hicks. Re: Thursday, April 29, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Speaking of the dice rolls, it blows my mind that the player(s) answered with the sums of the numbers, instead of saying what's on the 2 dice, i.e. snake eyes is double ones, boxcars double sixes, et cetera. I suppose it's the case where 2 has to be 1-1, so it's always snake eyes, 12 has to be 6-6 so it's always boxcars, etc. It never would have occurred to me to say it that way, though.
What if you said "four" for "Ballerina"? Would that be counted right? Ballerina has to be 2-2 (Tutu, get it?) so there are some cases where a roll of 4 isn't ballerina, like 3-1.

Re: Thursday, April 29, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
The only clue where that mattered was the TS and the answer given after was 6. So perhaps the contestants were advised off camera that would be the case. Otherwise, technically a ballerina clue would require a BMS needing either 2-2 or hard four.

Re: Thursday, April 29, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Today's MASTERPIECE/THEATER category was long enough that it was irregularly widening that category in the J! Archive display of this game. In the past I've said "please don't hyphenate [or in this case, add a line break]" too-long words (or strings, as may be the case) because it affects search functionality. But I just had the epiphany that I can handle special cases like this one in the presentation logic of the Archive backend code so that the category heading renders with a line break even though there is no line break in the database entry. Best of both worlds, basically.
Can you help me find other instances of too-long words/strings that would benefit from the same treatment?
I seem to recall that there was a recent category or clue with the same problem, and in the thread for that game, a few other instances were mentioned.

That's the first time I can recall the word "potty" coming up on Jeopardy.
I got Final Jeopardy as soon as I could run through the alphabet as far as Q.

Outside of the "potty mouth" context, there's just this clue:floridagator wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 7:42 pm That's the first time I can recall the word "potty" coming up on Jeopardy.
#6298, aired 2012-01-25 IN THE MAGAZINE $1600: Feline Groupie, Potty Anxiety

In the J!6 clues this morning, one of them was "dog's paws" (or something like that and I said "double 5s" and it was like "nope... 10."MinnesotaMyron wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 7:03 pm Speaking of the dice rolls, it blows my mind that the player(s) answered with the sums of the numbers, instead of saying what's on the 2 dice, i.e. snake eyes is double ones, boxcars double sixes, et cetera.
