Discarded Monaco*, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg*, and Belgium* to arrive at the correct response. The correct response just sounded more like a princess name, or at least it has the suffix letter that is more commonly feminine in Romance languages. But apparently, the etymology of the country name is not derived from any princess, but from words meaning either "shrub-covered land", or "the forest", or "to walk".

*These are not, as it turns out, geographically between two countries.

"Bishop of Urgell" was all I needed to get there, but "between two countries + Charlemagne" was pretty strong TOM, I thought.

The result did not surprise me at all. I listened to the contestant stories.

No guess on the clue not seen in AIR DEMONSTRATION SQUADRONS other than it would have been some name of a group and the players only had to identify the country.

Would Ken (not as likely Aaron) have gone for an ad lib when the players did not know the role in common for Richard Roundtree & Sam? The ball was teed up for Bill and he only gave the name. :(

DD3 was very likely the last clue even though two other clues worth $4K remained.

Steve had 4600 and Jamie had 18400 with Kalee in the red. 4400? Ugh! I was rooting for the solve to really make Steve regret it.

The FJ! category had me thinking like Jamie for a wager though I probably would have rolled the dice on $1600 in looking for the 20 pretty.

The clue was going to stump me as I was throwing a dart at a European map. I did Charlemagne to France (over Italy) and picked a border place. Luxembourg went on my paper. Even with multiple guess it's just as likely I miss the clue.

Please tell me there is no meaning with Steve's 106 wager or 94 finishing number? :D

Easy win for Jamie though 16600 Coryat seems low considering her favorable draw.

I applied the 50-50-90 rule to go with Liechtenstein. Any reasonable way to know it was Andorra instead? --Bob

I mean, when you think of Charlemagne, do you really think of Switzerland and Austria? I mean, I don't. I suppose his empire did extend into what is now Liechtenstein, but I think more of France, first, and if pressed for another country, either Spain or Germany.

This is where knowing too much can get you in trouble, because Charlemagne's empire did in fact encompass present-day Liechtenstein. What really pinned it was Bishop of Urgell.

Perhaps I was overly reading into the wording and just got lucky, but I came up with Andorra basically by boiling the question down to “what country borders France and only 1 other country”. Nothing else in the proper vicinity borders 2 countries even if I had not only considered France.

I think the fact that the country in question's constitution specifies a formalized relationship with the two bordering countries helped nail the answer down.

FJ courtesy of the host's pronunciation of "Urgell."

For the Roundtree/Jackson role in common, would they have accepted "Who is a bad mother--shut your mouth"?

France first, obviously, but I think of his empire going north/east, and I would have said Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria (and with those two, Liechtenstein), and Italy before heading toward Spain or Andorra.

At least I had a guess today.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

At least I did actually pick the one that does border two countries.

Pretty sure that is the worst game I have ever seen by the two new contestants.

You and me both. I mean seriously, why even bother going on?

That game was painful to watch in parts. I'm going to console myself with a fresh, hot calzone.

FJ insta-get and poor Steve to lose on a DD about your own state.

Lived on that street in Barcelona (Carrer del Comte d'Urgell).
Important region in Catala/Catalonia history. Official language of a nation that uses that, Andorra.

The hybrid category was a random wash. I don't like it.
