Re: Friday, May 7, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Double get on "Have you any wool?" as I suspected the reversal was coming.
Sara was a remind-alike for Allyssa Beird of ANW fame.
Even if Jamie had played DD2 and/or DD3 I doubt she would have gained 12201 in total to put the match away. The game was destined to go to the player with a Shakespeare name?
Bill coulda/shoulda given a little more information for the names/numbers acceptable for the FJ! clue. I went the Scottish way and was not 100% I was right until after the match. I prefer to have such doubt erased while watching.
Five more games of Bill & regular play before the ToC. Lots of chatter on Reddit from upcoming players that will appear next week to make it interesting trying to read the tea leaves.

How is James I the same as James VI of Scotland?

Juliet wins on the Shakespeare category. You might say she stole Jamie's thunder.

BW week one is done: https://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7018
The CC had "weight" for the Milton clue.
This is a Dinah Washington game ("What A Difference A Day Makes") with a 47,000 Combined Coryat compared to the 21K yesterday.

Re: Friday, May 7, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
It's a problematic question to ask. Too much instruction gives the answer away, while too little could lead either to ambiguity or overspecificity (that is, one might know James I of England, but think that the Scottish number was needed). My own imaginary written response was "who is James I of England", because that was the one i was sure of.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 1:41 pm

It reminded me of an FJ where they were instructed to be specific about the title of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", but it turned out they didn't actually need "The Strange Case of..." I might conceivably have misremembered the adjective and been wrong.
I'm smart and I want respect.

True, but James I of Scotland was a different king. I think James I on it own should not be acceptable.
Not that I had a clue, I went with Macduff as well.
Re: Friday, May 7, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I didn't even know Scotland *had* kings.

Same here. I didn’t key in on the part about the king being in the audience.
Sara was doomed when she corrected Bill.

runs: Americana, Sheep, Cliches, Poetry
DDs:
trash: hope, wait, callous (2600)
FJ: James VI of Scotland aka James I of England. (gave both)
Trying to run thru the Wars of the Roses plays during the break
Always heard the rhyme as "Baa baa black sheep", never the 'alternate'.

They don't any more. Ask Forest Whitaker.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Re: Friday, May 7, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Neither James I of Scotland...nor Macduff...was likely to be in Shakespeare's audience.
Macduff kills Macbeth, but it's Malcolm who ascends to the throne at the end of the play.

Pourquoi pas?
I mean, if I'm paying a guy for work, I'd want to see results. I'm also not a king, though, so there is that.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

James I of Scotland was long dead. They are up to James VI of Scotland by Shakespeare's Time.
James VI of Scotland would become James I of England.
