The UToC's final FJ was a "name both" and only Brad got it. I think you're thinking of the 2003 ToC, whose last FJ was basically "there were three last names shared by two Declaration of Independence signers; name two" and Eric Floyd, Brian Weikle, and Mark Dawson were each correct with a different pairing.jeopardyfan87 wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 9:50 pm Also the FJ! responses reminded me just a bit of the final game of the UToC, where all three contestants would have 3 different names... and each contestant picked a different 2 of those names, where one of those picks were the correct 2.

42R. 3/4 on big clues. Didn't get excommunication but might have with more time. I got distracted by the "kill the messenger" aspect of the clue and didn't parse it correctly.
Missed Eudora Welty and said Carson McCullers. At least I've got Carson McCullers and Colleen McCullough straightened out.
I liked the LATIN OVERLAPPIN' category. Not a category for amateur bonobos.
I tried looking up the clip of Mike Tyson fighting dinosaurs but couldn't find it easily. Found some other clips of his show and it looks funny.
Some clues that I missed that I want to get next time are Seiko, Neil Diamond, crisphead, Jacques-Louis David, and cornea.
Juliet played well but she should be wagering more on early DDs. Nearly cost her the lock game even after she converted all three.
Chocolate, peanut butter, cookie dough!

Oh yeah, I didn't understand. I was comparing the fact that all three contestants named a different pairing from the same set of three, but you went one step further to the more apt comparison, which is that this one had exactly two correct responses, and the two incorrect responses included the same one incorrect person without being identical.jeopardyfan87 wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 10:50 pmOkay, you were right I was a wee bit unspecific from what I was saying about the UToC's final FJ, and that's what I meant.seaborgium wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 10:48 pmThe UToC's final FJ was a "name both" and only Brad got it. Also, it's likely that she slurred the words "What is" together, at least in her own mind...
If Music"!" was supposed to signal that punctuation, how was Pink a correct response? Where was Wham!? The best I could come up with for the DD was Whoop!...
I got bogged down in trying to identify those 2 superfluous names, and ended up with just enough time to get the right ones down...
If any guest host is not explaining enough, isn't that the staff's fault??

Salmon Chase makes another fish clue. When does this joke get tired?
Why is Cogito, ergo Sumatra: a) a question, b) a sensible overlap? I googled "ergo Sumatra" and find nothing as an expression, cliche, or thing. I get the rest of the clues/puns.
Juliet has some mad skills or deep knowledge base. Alyssa showed up but couldn't sustain momentum. Why did she bet for a possible tie with 3rd? Doesn't she lose $500 for a tie?
I associate 1789 with the ratification of the Constitution, and thought it was a team delivering New York's result. Duh, I also associate it with the first term of GW, but never thought about the logistics. I will bone up on the 13 year gap - we blew through the Articles of Confederation in 8th grade and I don't have it as a part of the historical narrative. I chose Washington and Jefferson as being the most famous household names, although I don't associate GW so much with the authorship of the Constitution. I figured it would be Adams and Jefferson with equal likelihood.
Bill's detachment is getting pretty obvious. He can't get out of journalist / neutral observer mode. The criticism of tonight's game is fair (so far ). Maybe he just isn't a longtime watcher of the show, which doesn't seem likely. I already gave up on the "explain the quotation marks" windmill, but I think the exclamation point would have merited explanation by Alex. Which he didn't do very often in my recollection.

This probably doesn't happen a lot. In the category "C" to "D", the SST is the "ConcordE", not the "Concord". Does NOT end in "D".

I'd say 1787 (when it was put forth) is the year most associated with the Constitution, though it was not ratified by the necessary ninth state till 1788, it officially took effect in 1789, and Rhode Island, last of the thirteen to ratify, waited till 1790.twelvefootboy wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 11:26 pm

I also thought Emily just slurred her phrasing; it sounded like "Wh'is" to me. But yeah, enunciate.
Speaking of John Howland, I claim descent from his niece Abigail, through her marriage to John Young. This is a good deal shy of confirmed, though, so I ask any confident patrilineal descendants of John if their y-DNA haplogroup happens to be R1a. If not, at least one of us is wrong.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Most of the $10,000 bills still in circulation were formerly on display at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas. The casino had 100 $10,000 bills arranged into the shape of a horseshoe. Guests could have their photo taken by it and then come back an hour later to get their print. Presumably this hour would be spent gaming at Binion's.
Around 2004 Binion's decided to sell off the ten thousand dollar bills. I think they still have five of them. Obviously, they sold for a lot more than face.

If the category was “S”cience, he would mention the quotation marks but wouldn’t explain beyond “you know what means” as regular viewers would know each response began with an S. I think he would have explained the one in this show. Someone on the set should have told Bill to mention the “!”.twelvefootboy wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 11:26 pm Salmon Chase makes another fish clue. 1789 got me to the correct solve, but I worried there was a trick I was missing. Happily, no.
Juliet has been playing well and benefited from keeping the DDs away in DJ. She made it a runaway by one clue, which ended up being moot anyway.

In your defense, that clue was played immediately after the "C" to "D" category. I originally thought the same thing you did but realized it was in the next category.

I've missed very, very few episodes of 60 Minutes and Jeopardy over the past 40 years.
With the current drop of presenters on the first and hosts on the second, that would never have been the case.
Bill Whitaker is out of his depth on both.
Another thing they have in common is an intolerable amount of advertising.
If I were younger, I could run a mile or more during the commercials on each.
That Executive Producer guy has to bear a big part of the responsibility here.
FWIW, I can't think of a time when Alex let a "Not in the form of a question" slip by in DJ. Rules is rules!
