Re: Monday, May 10, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
That sucked for John to get hit with a reversal after initially being given a correct response. It's possible that was the difference for him getting third place money instead of second place.
Juliet was 3/3 on DDs so did get the lock although Alyse still had a shot at 14200 and 28400 before Juliet got clue 29 that ended the DJ! round.
When the FJ! clue was revealed I matched John's response and spent think time wondering if that was all there was to it or if I was overlooking something. Nothing else made sense to me for a detour and I was happy I was right.
The wrong guy that appeared twice will be a poll option of course.
John was barely heard from in the DJ! round while Juliet kept upping her score piece by piece to improve on her debut. If today was not the ceiling then watch out upcoming players.
Definitely game numbers have improved (other than a clue not played today) after the Thursday fiasco.
Bill gets the job done without adding anything extra to give the show some fun moments. Next week I expect Buzzy to liven up the proceedings even though a ToC itself should be sufficient to bring excitement.

$30,400 has to be among the highest end-of-DJ scores all season. Bill didn't draw attention to this or the exclamation mark in quotes in "Music'!'". I'm not happy with his run as host at all.

Man, the two ladies sure overthought what essentially was, "Who were the first President and Vice President".
How would he know? He's literally only been there 1 day.tddeveryday wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 2:37 pm $30,400 has to be among the highest end-of-DJ scores all season. Bill didn't draw attention to this ...
That, on the other hand, was disappointing.or the exclamation mark in quotes in "Music'!'".

Re: Monday, May 10, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I wrote down Washington and John Adams so I didn’t have to worry about not being specific on Adams.
Disappointed Bill didn’t explain the ! or tell Juliet she could bet $1000.

Can someone explain to me why DD3 had a question mark in it? It threw me so far off I couldn't concentrate on the meat of the clue.

But not the highest--with $6,000 more than that, this distinction belongs to Brayden Smith game 3.tddeveryday wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 2:37 pm $30,400 has to be among the highest end-of-DJ scores all season.

Re: Monday, May 10, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Here's the clue text. Basically it's asking a question and then answering it (with "a [long] novel ... & ... a [short] allegory"). The "this" still points to needing the name of a male sci-fi author.BrigadierSolo13 wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 8:01 pm Can someone explain to me why DD3 had a question mark in it? The long & the short of 1952 for this sci-fi man? A novel, "Foundation and Empire", & "The Martian Way", a McCarthyism allegory

Why did they let Juliet get away with that phrasing during DJ? Bill’s explanation made no sense. Without that she doesn’t have a runaway.

Re: Monday, May 10, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Wow, that's really hard to read into. That made me think there was some question into the gender of said author. It made me consider Ayn Rand for a bit, but eventually thought it was Bradbury because of the Martian connection.Robert K S wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 8:09 pmHere's the clue text. Re: Monday, May 10, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I always like games where the contestants choose to do all the clues on the board left to right without jumping to another category or a higher dollar amount. In the J! round when John was sticking to the first category on the left, and then went to the next category selecting all of those clues I was certain it was going to be a left to right board first round... then I was a little bit disappointed when he didn't go directly to the third category on the board.
Also the FJ! responses reminded me just a bit of the final game of the UToC, where all three contestants would need to name both answers. The 3 contestants had 3 different names... and each contestant picked a different 2 of those names, where one of those picks were the correct 2.
Meantime, I turn 34 on Wednesday, and for the first time ever in all my years of being alive, the original episode of the show that will be airing on birthday is going to be a regular game... when my birthday does not fall on the weekend my birthday episodes have always been part of a tournament, a special week, or of course as was the case last year, a GOAT rerun.

You know, I didn't think that was right, but yeah it sure is. Looks like Season 2 is likely the last time that May 12th was a regular game.jeopardyfan87 wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 9:50 pm Meantime, I turn 34 on Wednesday, and for the first time ever in all my years of being alive, the original episode of the show that will be airing on birthday is going to be a regular game...
