Full Credit Roll alert.

My scoresheet agrees with today's players that today was a tougher game and I'm not surprised the numbers were down in comparison to yesterday.

Nibir acted out taking a selfie for his opening that included two "V" fingers. I suspect we may be seeing the last of such things on introductions.

Karen and Nibir put themselves in position to possibly both make it to next week while Steve yo-yoed too much with a handful of negs that kept him from getting untracked.

In the ToC I did not expect to face such a fairly solvable FJ! clue though I'll gladly take one when I can be done without doubt before Buzzy finishes reading the clue. Nibir may or may not have have multiple regrets on the FJ! round between coyote or wager depending on how the other non-winners shake out.

I would think Sarah most likely would have got this FJ! clue correct and that had to stink for her to see it in wishing it was the clue for yesterday.

Nice work by Karen to win the game with a hit or miss as 2000 if she missed the FJ! clue would have had her wining anyway with 12200 to Nibir at 12199.

This one wasn't in Words from History, t(h)ank goodness.

Frustratingly, I was thinking about this record album as I drove in to work today, literally just before checking the thread for the FJ.

Even if I'd remembered that "panzer" = tank, I might have missed it.

I actually watched the show last night, the first full ep I've seen since Alex's last. Buzzy was a very good choice for host, especially for the ToC.

I would have really thrown the judges for a loop on "I'm on a boat!" for $400. My response was "what is promotion to Rear Admiral?" They may have negged me originally (or maybe not) but on review they would have to give it to me.

Also, the "short" pronunciations of boatswain and forecastle are the only correct ones.

Quick get for me on FJ. I agree the game seemed a bit harder than yesterday. I think Steve got flustered on the DD when he picked someone who was dead, although she was actually younger than Carter.

I also found this board to be pretty tough. I was surprised that Garner = FDR was a triple stumper, though.

I got FJ by guessing an animal that I associate with Texas. The word origin part of the clue didn't help me at all.

Honestly I thought this was gettable off "animal from Texas that might be distinctive enough to get its own nickname". Successfully translating "tank pig" left me with zero doubt.

I know the UTOC had an entire category...
nevertheless, that category was brutal.

runs: Daily Quintuple,
DDs: :D :( :D
trash: Rosalyn Carter DD, cordial, address, FDR, Old Ironsides (3400),
FJ: What is an armadillo? Tank pig, WECIB.
Myron ninjaed me with the Tarkus pic. 8-)

Well, boys and girls, I am:

1. descended from Germans who immigrated to and settled in Texas, and

B. someone who still visits relatives in the German-settled areas of Texas (Fredericksburg, etc.) and

III. is at least German conversant, if not fluent.

For all of that I would never have arrived at the good old armadillo. I immediately thought of a pig relative (schwein) that was equipped for fierce battle, and felt good about selecting the Javelina, which fits both of those thoughts.

So much for my ToC FJ perfecto.

I counted $14,200 in LT. Good enough for a lock-tie fourth podium.

Yep, these are tough boards. Strangely, I've done slightly better in DJ than in the J! round, both today and yesterday. First round categories about contemporary pop music and sociology will do that to me.

$6,800 in LT, all in the DJ round. Also got FJ thinking about animals associated with Texas rather than try to translate the German word. A rare time that I start a ToC 2/2 in FJs.

A possible $2K more in LT from 4 OF THE SAME LETTER $2000:
Collective name for strategic measures taken by a nation to discourage hostile action by another
I said militarization. Judges?

I thought the material was much harder in today's game, though I picked up a few of the triple stumpers. (The Comedy Store doc series is very good...) Alas, I forgot the meaning of panzer and could only associate panzer with army, so I didn't come close to FJ. I agree that ii's a terrific clue...

I thought "man with a plan" was a nod to the famous palindrome and guessed TR...Though I've read quite a bit about TR, I admit I know as little about Charles W. Fairbanks as I do about Dawes...I recently saw a doc that talked about Curtis but I still forgot whom he VPed for...

How about Transamerica tower for Transamerica Pyramid? I note that there's a tower by the former name in Baltimore, but I further note that searching Wikipedia for Transamerica Tower defaults to the San Fran building...
