5/5 on a ToC. Awesome.
I said Lord Baltimore.

I had The Da Vinci Code for the DD, but The Name of the Rose did make an appearance in my thought process, which is odd because I had no idea what it was about.

Tuesday I'm embarrassed by. I live in Texas (have seen live armadillos... and many more roadkill armadillos), and know enough German I should have worked out "tank pig" and from there it would have been easy. Instead I somehow was thinking some type of cow and said the longhorn. It didn't sit well with me and as soon as I saw the correct answer I knew why.

Wednesday... Middle East geography isn't my strong suit. (In Crusader Kings, I conquered Jerusalem without realizing it was part of the war target.) I said Syria.

Had Calvert and Penn Thursday.

No guess Friday.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

I thank "Life Is a Highway" for the Khyber Pass get.

Actually said "PENNsylvania" out loud and William Penn still didn't slot into place.

Thanks, Kirk. It was fun to play along at home and know I could have made the semis at any spot on any day. Nearly 16 years later or not I have no doubt I would have enough buzzer mojo remaining to reach $6K minimum.

Whew! Last TOC I was 5/5 in the first week, so this was extra painful....Draco I would have got another day, the rest probably not...
I've seen King Lear several times, so I checked that to build up those numbers... ;) ..., but the birth year may have planted the right guy in my head a second before the first name made it certain...I don't remember ever reading that his parents were actors, which seems like something I oughta know, and a third way in to the clue...

I remember from Bartlett's Familiar Quotations that the class of 1809 was a very distinguished one.

I must have seen an armadillo at some point, though maybe we were not both at liberty.

Calvert and Lord De La Warr, though I wasn't sure if the former was distinct from Lord Baltimore. Glad it wasn't an LL question.
I'm smart and I want respect.

How the heck did this happen?

Thinking of "draconian" helped Monday. Guessed an animal associated with Texas Tuesday instead of trying to translate the German. Vaguely remembered Yemen possibly being at the north of the Red Sea (which proves how bad my mental geography is, since it's at the south end), so it made sense to guess it. Penn and Calvert for Thursday. Got Friday's from the 1809 angle. I've read King Lear before, but it's been a few years.

No clue on The Name of the Rose. WAGed Angels and Demons for that one.

A yucky week for FJ.

M= Solon
Tu= Javelina
W= UAE (left a bruise on my forehead)
Th= Penn and Lord Baltimore (whew)
F= Junius Booth (re-bruised the same bruise - expecting spectacular colors this weekend)

Haven't read The Name of the Rose, but saw the movie (in theater) starring Sean Connery as the bespectacled detective monk and a 15-year-old Christian Slater as his helper.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

2/5 is about what I expect for a ToC. Didn't expect to see "the one Final written for me and only me" here, though (my twitter handle is @ArmadilloAl). No chance or guess on Monday, couldn't figure out who to pair with Henry Clay on Thursday (as though I was anywhere close), and was only 26 years off with Samuel Clemens on Friday.

Confused Khyber with Khmer on that clue.
