The excitement of the bsck-and-forth partially offset the fact that it wasn’t the best display of J! acumen tonight. I wonder if anyone was helped to the FJ! answer by thinking of the meaning of the word tribunal.

I meant that Matt's flash card might not be pinned well enough, not the clue.seaborgium wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 12:11 amUnless Ikea sells Flodalen robes, the clue was plenty pinned. Mayim has been bubbly, but I think it injects some needed life into the show without being distracting. And unlike with many of the other guest hosts, she comes across to me as having a convincing grasp of the material.
Nice FJ clue. I had briefly thought of Sentinel but couldn't pin it to the cities. San Diego's current major paper is the Union-Tribune, and Greeley's New-York Tribune does not survive in any current iteration, but a later version makes me think of one of my favorite movies:

How does Patricia Franchini have a perfect American accent when shouting "New York Herald Tribune" but not know what a horoscope is?

I found it extremely annoying. So much so that for me it DQs her from a permanent gig. I gave her a pass during the "I'D LIKE TO BUY" category but she kept it up after that. This Is Kirk! wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 12:17 amI noticed this too and must admit I found it a bit annoying.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 1:42 pm Did Mayim have some happy juice before the game? That sounds amazing. I never knew that was possible. could you clip it sometime?Robert K S wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 4:09 pm Regarding this clue: This Nirvana song shares its name with an element used in medications for bipolar disorder
I got this clue right because, even before MP3 players, I had a copy of the song on my TI graphing calculator. Somebody had written a program for the calculator that allowed it to play a reasonable facsimile of music when you plugged headphones into the data transfer port. The song took up almost the whole memory of the calculator and the lyrics were barely decipherable.

Didn't get Tribune. oh well. I wasn't around for the NY Tribune.
European History was hilarious, to say the least. No grab on Alexander II the Liberator from 1861

My high school math teacher personally deleted my baseball game off my calculator so I can only imagine how he would have reacted had I played one of these files in class.

I had Herald. Might have done better if I hadn’t watched after working an 11 hour shift overnight.

Satellite radio's grunge channel is also called Lithium.
Got to the FJ solve early, then doubled back to talk myself out of Sentinel, then went back to the solve. Choppy game with seven wrongs for Lydia, but she was close to a tortoise and the hare potential win if the other two had been tied going into Final. Didn't pan out that way and the solves made it moot, but looked possible late.

From this show I learned how Robert Henri pronounced his name (Hen-rye). Kudos to MB or the staff for getting it right.
