Surprised nobody’s mentioned Duane Allman. Associated with Macon, famously died young, active at least at the end of the ‘60s.

Check out Otis Redding at Monterey Pop if you haven't seen it. FJ solve for me but I can certainly understand whiffing on this.

Huh, I never thought of that, but I think founder Paul Allen was a big Hendrix fan, so riffing off of "Are You Experienced" probably isn't a stretch. However, I think this connection may be a bridge too far for most people.
