Surprised nobody’s mentioned Duane Allman. Associated with Macon, famously died young, active at least at the end of the ‘60s.

Huh, I never thought of that, but I think founder Paul Allen was a big Hendrix fan, so riffing off of "Are You Experienced" probably isn't a stretch.
