Extended credits roll alert.
The clue in FEMA about the 2012 event had me rooting for the right player to get it. Yay!
Michael took a skunk opening segment, but could have won the game with a higher wager on DD3 when he left 2400 on the table he needed at the end to make his sole solve pay off for more than just the 2nd place prize.
Bridget was riding high at DD2 with 11200. It was Goofy skiing off the mountain after that.
The FJ! category had me precall Moby-Dick a sperm whale, Mark Twain/Calaveras for the celebrated frog, Black Beauty, and my last one was more general with Carroll.
The FJ! clue had me join Michael and my pen was down. At least Bridget did not go with the famous dance crew.
Sandy's smiling mug on the J! set was on Reddit about a week ago, so DD2 and the end result did not surprise me.

I had a feeling someone might try to make the poem's name into 10 letters.
And good on Savannah for saying Belle Fourche correctly.

DD2 was easy peasy.MarkBarrett wrote: Michael took a skunk opening segment, but could have won the game with a higher wager on DD3 when he left 2400 on the table he needed at the end to make his sole solve pay off for more than just the 2nd place prize.

I'm wondering if she lost some mojo after the miss, and if it could have contributed to some of the negs.
Had Bridget gotten Henry Hudson, Michael had a good chance to win from 3rd because Sandy would have had to wager more.

runs: Arabic, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Boroughs, Music History,
DDs:
trash: Earthsea, 1800, Hudson DD, Argentina (5400)
FJ: What is Jabberwock? Easy to switch gears.
Precalls were Frankenstein's Monster, Island of Dr. Moreau
What was with Michael's bet? Classic double-lock situation. Bet no more than 3399 to guarantee an extra thousand.

Possibly hoping that Sandy would err by incorrectly calculating what is 2x $10,000....DBear wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 8:29 pm runs: Arabic, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Boroughs, Music History,

Can we get a poll for the British island? I have no clue what to make of it....

Easy enough, just use more kerning.
My precall consisted solely of Lewis Carroll...I explicitly thought of the white rabbit, but stopped guessing as to not unduly influence myself.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.
Latest movies (1-10): An Autumn Afternoon (7), Europa Europa (7), Tampopo (9), Baby Doll (6)

I'll admit that I've never heard of the 3rd-most populous of the British Isles. The others of the top 5? Yep.

The Isle of Wight is the largest island off the south coast of GB. It’s known for a rock festival that has seen rock’s biggest acts perform. I got FJ because I dropped off the “y” since that seemed like the best idea. I was glad to see Sandy win. Bridget started off great but faded early. I wasn’t rooting for the low key guy.

44R. 4/4 on big clues. I've read Prisoner of Trebekistan which talks about the poem and I've also seen a contestant get negged for mixing up Jabberwocky and Jabberwock in the past. I watched the 2010 Disney film Alice in Wonderland recently and they refer to the creature as a Jabberwocky which was interesting to me.
I don't usually do precalls because they tend to make me hyperfocused on whatever I precall and then I can't come up with anything else. In this case I couldn't help but guess Buck and Cthulu. Both of which were from works published in the 1900s. Oops.
Missed the Isle of Wight clue and was wondering what it has to do with holidays but it looks like it's well established on the Wikipedia page. Learned something new.
Some clues that I missed that I want to get next time are alkaline, transference, star (sidereal), 1800 (Hamilton election song), and St. Louis Cardinals.

Totally skipped Isle of Wight and was looking in the Channel Islands.MattKnowles wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 10:43 pm Missed the Isle of Wight clue and was wondering what it has to do with holidays but it looks like it's well established on the Wikipedia page. Learned something new.

Grew up a Cardinals fan, watching Ozzie Smith. No way I miss that.

It wouldn't surprise me much if someone bet $1000 in Sandy's spot.mas3cf wrote:Possibly hoping that Sandy would err by incorrectly calculating what is 2x $10,000....DBear wrote: What was with Michael's bet? Classic double-lock situation. Bet no more than 3399 to guarantee an extra thousand.
At first I cringed at Michael's wager, but then I have to keep reminding myself they don't always have wagering geniuses on the show. Some day a leader with a close lock is going to bet too much.

Remember when Austin Rogers said "Who are the Eagles?" in a forlorn, sarcastic tone?
That's how I would have answered the St. Louis Cardinals question.

Gotta love nailing a literal Pavlov!
Sandy got her storm and her Cards, but also a solid Pieta to clinch it, which proved key when she was “outgrabe” of Michael’s reach.
2/2 on FJ to start the week and hoping it continues.

Is $8,600 the highest score ever for second place at the end of the J! round?
