Savannah is a little kinder or a little slower on the judging side of things?

Napa Valley could have been negged immediately, but instead a grace period was given. The reward? The next clue was DD1. That's great for Arman while perhaps it unfairly disadvantaged his opponents.

Later "glacier" was given time to be corrected. It can't be easy to host and judge such things and I'm not sure myself where to draw the line. It's up to the discretion of the host to rule as soon as a response is given or if the response is in the neighborhood to say nothing and wait to see if the player can clean it up before time is up.

The ideal scenario would be for the contestants to give the best and correct response on the first try, but of course that cannot always happen.

Some responses are easier to neg in a nanosecond like "Heckle & Jeckle" or whatever spelling Arman was thinking. That was way beyond out of left field and from the parking lot.

The FJ! category had me thinking general with bridges & tunnel names or Coney Island. My DVR is already set up for the hot dog contest on the 4th.

The FJ! clue had me able to utilize the best prep for J! in watching the show faithfully. In 1984 I may not have known the clue. By 2021 even this native West Coaster had no problem getting the clue up to 25% thanks to the repetition:
Spoiler

#7855, aired 2018-11-02 THEY'RE "GREAT" $800: A nickname for Broadway
#7605, aired 2017-10-06 BROADWAY, BABY $200: In 2017 Grizabella & Rum Tum Tugger prowled the Great White Way once more in this musical
#7387, aired 2016-10-25 FROM SCREEN TO STAGE $400: With co-writer Sylvester Stallone, this musical got in the ring & hit the Great White Way in 2014
#7217, aired 2016-01-19 NFL NICKNAMES $600: Jets QB Namath was called this, after Manhattan's Great White Way
#6792, aired 2014-03-11 GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADWAY $800: This man seen here hit the Great White Way in 1993 as Abe Lincoln in Illinois
#6721, aired 2013-12-02 NAME THE ROLE $800: A pink lady: Adrienne Barbeau on the Great White Way, Stockard Channing on the silver screen
#5823, aired 2009-12-30 BROADWAY MUSICALS $200: On Nov. 16, 2006 this supercalifragilis-ticexpialidocious musical opened on the Great White Way
#5643, aired 2009-03-04 THE ROAR OF THE GREASEPAINT $1600: George Wendt played the Great White Way in 2008 as Edna Turnblad in this musical set in 1962
#5386, aired 2008-01-28 THAT SOUNDS "GREAT" $1200: The bright lights of Broadway give the Theatre District this nickname
#4676, aired 2004-12-27 TIMES SQUARE AT 100 $400: (Sarah of the Clue Crew reads from Broadway.) Fittingly, O.J. Gude, who designed many Times Square electric signs, coined this term for Broadway
#2734, aired 1996-06-20 STREETS $200: This NYC street is nicknamed the "Great White Way"
#1064, aired 1989-03-30 NEW YORK CITY $100: Manhattan's longest street, one section of it is known as "The Great White Way"
#511, aired 1986-11-24 SIDEWALKS OF NEW YORK $100: New York's "Great White Way"
#62, aired 1984-12-04 COLORS $400: Broadway's nickname
Tough break for Nikkee not able to capitalize on her lead and solves of DD2 & DD3.

With 2300 then 9500 left on the table with her DD bets it would not have taken much to have won on the triple miss instead of allowing Austin to make his 2nd place position pay off to play next week.

Next up for the final 2-week stint of guest hosts: Dr. Sanjay Gupta

After that it's 5 singletons to close the remaining seven weeks of the season.

As far as Savannah's hosting I was wrong with my initial reaction after day one that one week would have been enough. Savannah more than justified getting two weeks as her style fit the show well. She can indeed look back at her games with pride and fond memories for a fine job guest hosting.

AROUND THE GARDEN? $1000 had me recalling the category, so unable to capitalize on only knowing the term my dad uses of "scrambled eggs" although I guess I could argue some people have hens cooking breakfast in their garden?

I was never going to be able to get that clue. I've heard that phrase before, probably noted it while watching the show, but the association with Broadway never congealed in my memory.

"Broadway = great white way" is easy enough IMO.
BUT not knowing the manhattan street layout well... I had nothing that pointed me to "Broadway"

I was left focusing on the category, and general NYC nicknames like "the big apple"... or "city that never sleeps"... or... ruh roh there's the timpani :?

I don't know the Manhattan street layout, but I know Broadway's diagonality is what makes the Flatiron Building flat, and Times Square not-square.

Looking at Google Maps, I can't believe how much of Broadway--and Manhattan generally--is now closed to vehicular traffic. It looks like the Broadway closures happened in 2009 under Mayor Bloomberg.

Scrambled eggs are on the hats of officers O-5 and up.

Instaget FJ.

Poll request:

(1) I knew it was Broadway but didn't know Great White Way, and

(2) Given Broadway, I could have gotten Great White Way, but didn't know it was Broadway

or something to that effect. It was (1) for me...

Glad someone won because he knows how to bet from second place. Another $1,000 and Nikkee has a crush and it doesn’t matter.

I picked up Great White Way at some point in my life and the information paid off today.

Personally, I have never heard it referred to without the word 'the'. It's The Great White Way. I hesitated to say just "Great White Way", but I finally did because I had nothing else. I did not like the wording of that clue (yet another example).

Thanks, I've capitalized it. Not sure about italics.

Looks like I did the right thing laying off the military uniform clue. Thanks.

It, uh, makes the Flatiron Building triangular. Like an iron.

Didn't know how to use Broadway to get Great White Way. Went with Bright Broadway Lights. (born and raised here) :?

i don't like the second-guesses that are permitted in a response. If it is asking for a noun/adjective and the response is not the part of speech that we're seeking, it should be dinged.
