Youth Poet Laureate and crickets? :o

Whatever the tally is for James saying the word "please", it's in double digits. Some people sound exactly like their picture has me guessing on This Week's Contestants and James was a match.

Matt was only 1000 to the good for playing all 3 DDs and still had a lock. Even with a miss on all three DDS, Matt still wins with the sole solve of the FJ! clue.

The FJ! category had me with no great inspiration other than Dorothea Lange.

The FJ! clue had me rule out Mt. Rushmore because I had it pegged for 1940s. During think time I was all over the place from NYC skyscrapers to the Hollywood Sign to the Gateway Arch in playing the guess the landmark game. With enough time to spare I hit upon the right thing.

It was only after my pen was down that I realized I could have been quicker by doing unpopular guys in that decade. That's what I get for properly processing the clue wanted a thing and not the man while on other days I could have had more trouble parsing the wording of that kind of clue.

Austin and Seth both lost game 13. Matt can stay at the games won total of 12 or move on to meet Matt Jackson at 13 victories. Matt Amodio likes baseball, so he is one win away from playing under another J! host and one who also calls baseball games.

4 days, 4 instagets...now worried about tomorrow as I can probably count on one hand how many times I sweep FJ for the week.

Great FJ, that I missed. I associate the correct guy with the 20s. Went Guggenheim Museum.

I had to go back and check the clue wording, since it wasn't named after the guy when it was dedicated. The grammar checks out though.

I went with 30 Rock, not knowing what year it was built or what year John D. died. A surprisingly plausible response!--knowing that the construction date was 1933 and the death date was 1937!

I like Matt, but he's basically Jason Zuffranieri with better wagering skills. And I liked Jason too, but it's frustrating that people don't recognize how similar those two are.

What they have in common:
Concentrate on the bottom of the board.
Most of their games are runaways (9/12 (75%) for Matt, 14/20 (70%) for Jason).
DDs: 85% for Matt, 81% for Jason.
FJ percentages: 67% for Matt, 55% for Jason. (These stats look different, but they're still both less than brilliant at FJ.)
Average Coryats: $24,883 for Matt, $24,410 for Jason.

The biggest similarity I see between them is something that can't be quantified with stats, which is that they're both strong on memorizing obscure facts but weaker on clues that require you to put puzzle pieces together, or clues that you can't instaget from studying beforehand.
My lucky numbers are 6, 66, and 666.

I continue to be shocked at how good David Faber is as host. It's a shame he has a day job because I could see him taking over permanently.

For some reason in FJ my mind went to skyscrapers and I was racking my brain trying to think of ones from that era named after people. I first thought of the Chrysler Building before settling on Rockefeller Center at the very end.

My mind went to buildings/skyscrapers, but I stopped at the Chrysler Building.

I was in the same city with the Chrysler Building.

I misread the answer at first and wrote Herbert Hoover. Luckily I had plenty of time to add Dam and subtract Herbert. Its official name is just Hoover Dam so I wonder if Herbert Hoover Dam would have worked.

Not as dominant as his other games but still a lock. James took Wayne’s approach in FJ while Ashley used the Golf method. Although a $3000 wager would have been better since she gets the extra grand in a tie and a $3000 bet means he can’t pass her betting zero

Oh yeah ... I really hate it when they accept "Richard the Lionhearted". That's not what he's called.

I'm going to hurt myself with facepalms this week. After writing down "Mt. Rushmore"...I felt stupid for not thinking of Hoover Dam. And I've visited Hoover Dam!

Ha, I like it! I guess that goose egg looks a lot better than $6k in some people’s eyes.

Can we change the term “suicide wager” to “The Wayne Postulate?”

One thing about Ashley immediately stood out - "librarian from Chicago, Illinois".

Drivel (although drivel is, by definition, nonsensical so you can leave it out).

I was in Cleveland recently and visited his grave. Ever been there? Same cemetery as James Garfield and John Dillinger.
