I'm not sure you should - the spelling can't change the pronunciation, and "TOIL-ken" isn't the same as "tol-KEEN" or "TOL-ken".
Judging by how Paula Deen says "oil," I'm guessing "Toilken" would be a soundalike for a lot of Southerners.
Alternative answer 1: given that the i is basically silent in the most common American pronunciation of his name, I think shifting it shouldn't be considered to do much damage pronunciation-wise.
Alternative answer 2: it's okay to be lenient as your own judge at home.
