I also said inebriated, and couldn’t think of a reason to nev it. Instaget FJ. If ElendilPickle missed it, I’ll give her endless grief.

Hell, yeah, he was nervous. He knows he's a sham. Plus, he probably sensed my searing gaze through time and space and TV. Honestly, a professional host and producer does not pull that kind of stunt.tddeveryday wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 10:00 pmI was thinking about that thing with Ken and Buzzy. I believe all the bad stories about Mike. I'm sure he really is a gigantic jerk, but I genuinely believe the reason he asked them to sit in the green room was because he was nervous.squarekara wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 9:58 pm He must be dreading having to let Ken and Buzzy out of The Cupboard at lunchtime.

Instaget on FJ (and spelled correctly). And another inebriated here (response that is) - didn’t even think of intoxicated as a response.
Just thinking of Mike Richards in terms of host performance without all the other stuff - he’s not bad, just kind of a Generic Game Show Host - bland and unmemorable.

Since fiction or fantasy is "made up" by definition, I don't know how it could be more "legit"...twelvefootboy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 10:53 pm I don't know how legit it is to say someone "made up" a language if it is for the purpose of fiction or fantasy.

Tolkien’s invented languages are quite substantial works of scholarship.twelvefootboy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 10:53 pm I don't know how legit it is to say someone "made up" a language if it is for the purpose of fiction or fantasy. I don't know the backstory of Esperanto, but I assumed it could have come from an academic (and author) at University. Since I don't know, I had no guesses. I never dreamed that Klingon, Elvish, or pig Latin would satisfy the clue. On reveal, I think that Tolkien's academic career was in my file cabinet.

After three episodes, a familiar pattern for me...
Easily nailed Monday's FJ, which seems to have given a good number of posters some difficulty.
Not so much for Tues. and Wed. Posters here seems to have little difficulty with these, but I had no clue.
Tonight's read to me as "Name a random UK author." I did, but not the right one.
Last night's... I should have gotten that one. Brain just didn't fire; didn't grok the significance of the date, which was a BIG TOM.

TLC show not gonna happen. That Progressive commercial is also unfamiliar to me. Could not get 3x3 Basketball either.
DD: 3/3
FJ:
+1 for Inebriated. Expect this clue in the polls this weekend.

Re: Wednesday, September 15, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I thought Maureen had a legitimate chance early on in this game. Matt’s DJ round was so dominant that it likely wouldn’t have mattered, but if she finds DD1 and doubles up, it would have made for some tense DJ moments. Alas, Matt once again finds it late enough where it can make a huge difference in the game and cruises from there.
So, with third place sewn up on the games list, he can now make a run at being the third to reach $1M. Jeopardy gets a bit lucky as the story for those watching the show isn’t the person hosting it.

What have we told you about posting in that condition?? Jeez.
I was also surprised that Matt didn't spell Tolkien correctly. He's gotta be ashamed of that one.

Got to the FJ solve early, then spent the music worrying it might be C.S. Lewis or even Lewis Carroll. Glad I didn't talk myself out of it.
What more can you say about Matt? One of the best ever. He commands all aspects of the game.

He's keeping his comments to a minimum, probably because he's aware the fans hate him. He's joking only in the contestant interviews and not at all during gameplay. It seems like his heart's not in it. (Which isn't to say he was dazzling in his original run or anything...)

Actually it was the reverse. He made up the fiction to go with his language.twelvefootboy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 10:53 pm I don't know how legit it is to say someone "made up" a language if it is for the purpose of fiction or fantasy.

I said Toilken. The executive producer said spelling didn’t matter so I’m counting it.

One of my favorite trivia chestnuts:
This was the only cast member of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy to have met Tolkien.

"IN" THE DICTIONARY $400: This word means drunk
The correct word from Matt was intoxicated while I counted my response of inebriated correct as well since the only qualifier was starting with "in" and nothing about word length. Any other acceptable responses?
OK, I know that's not one word. Never mind.

I'm not sure you should - the spelling can't change the pronunciation, and "TOIL-ken" isn't the same as "tol-KEEN" or "TOL-ken".
"Elen sila lumenn omentielvo...A star shines on the hour of our meeting."
