Only wrote Armstrong & Aldrin though could have added Collins if needed
1969 took me right to the Moon, so it’s hard to know if I could have solved it without it, though I think it’s possible as famous groups of three men for the FJ! round might work.

Inebriated was my response.

Just Malala and could not have recalled last name to say or write it.

Not polled: I did spell Tolkien correctly and I have never been to Rhode Island

Heard of Malala, but the name just hasn't stuck.

Adding on to your unpolled: Would have Tolkien correctly, never been to RI.

Mon - Providence *brushes rust off writing hand*
Tue - I just went ahead and wrote all three and couldn't decide who to cross off to be technically right in the end. Also likely needed 1969
Thu - Malala

Inebriated

Needed 1969 to confirm the astronauts, knew all of them
Did not know Malala’s last name
Jackson was an educated guess

Have been to RI several times, including Newport, and knew about the synagogue
Would have spelled Tolkien correctly

I was spoiled on Monday, and because I couldn't be sure either way how I would have performed on the clue, I decided that I'd mark myself correct if I got all the other ones, and I did.

I decided it was too easy to include Armstrong, so I said Aldrin and Collins. (I think the 1969 bit was necessary for me.) I would have included Yousafzai in my response on Thursday. I considered Zurich for the city but clammed.

Pennsylvania.

I needed 1969 to get the astronauts. I said Armstrong and Aldrin, but actually had Collins before Aldrin.
Inebriated.
Just had "Malala." I knew her last name starts with Y but could not have come up with the full name anywhere close to something that would have been acceptible.

I would have included Tolkien's initials and spelled his name correctly. I've never been to Rhode Island, except playing City of Heroes.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Counting Tuesday's FJ as incorrect -- stared stupidly at it for 29.784 seconds, then finally grasped the significance of "three men in 1969" without time to do anything about it. I hang my head in shame.

Got distracted with the Lenin clue. Might have gone with Zurich last week, but a recent board discussion of Frankfurt (another banking center) grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

A 50/50/90 between Geneva and Zurich prevented the perfecto.

Armstrong and Collins, knew Armalcolite from an old FJ. Showed off and included Malala's last name.

Much to my chagrin, the year 1969 never clicked with me. Had I made the connection with the year, I likely would have gotten to the right three gentlemen pretty easily. I could tell you right where I was when the Eagle landed, and when they ventured out for a stroll.

I would have happily said Yousafzai, but I'm not writing it down. At least not under the pressure of the lights.

My weakness in lit showed this week. I missed the most frequently correct FJ among boardies. Perhaps I made up for it with a combination of luck and ruling out some bad choices among presidents.

Huh. I should've researched that Switzerland LL90 D24 clue. I thought it was referring to Geneva then.

The Richards era was not great for me...Can't believe I missed Tolkien...I just didn't think of Malala, though if I had I might have written her last name only. To me, it's easier to remember, with its 3 distinct parts, than those 3 slippery syllables in her first name.
Normally I would get Diwali, not sure what happened there...I thought of Geneva before Zurich.

Needed 1969 for the armalcolite question.
