Re: Friday, December 3, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Ken was ready to have fun from the start with his reading of the J1 clue. It continued with how he handled the 1/5 in the Dennis Quaid category. 5/5 for me even with it not having my kind of choices like Dreamscape, Innerspace or The Parent Trap.
Andrew got to plug a podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/8 ... 1549805653
The FJ! clue had me go to the right thing first with no detours after a few seconds of thought and a momentary blank on the name I wanted. During think time I thought about adding "Foundation" but was certain it was not necessary. I did not have the hyphens as I could not picture the org. for how it's written.
Not that there is a crowd to pop, but John Cena coming out to read the clue instead of Ken would have done the trick.
Amy sweeps another week and gets that long-running champ status of having to wait for a tourney to run before returning.
After win #13:
Julia Collins: $261,410
David Madden: $305,101
Jason Zuffranieri $361,943
Matt Jackson: $411,612
Matt Amodio: $430,200
Ken Jennings: $440,158
Amy Schneider: $536,400
James Holzhauer: $942,738

Re: Friday, December 3, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Andrew sticking to that Quaid category shows lack of strategy. Unlikely DD category. Just seemed like the contestants gave up midway through DJ.
I don't seem to recall any Shakespeare categories during Amy's run so far. That should be easy for her.
If Amy starts hunting for DDs it will be a nightmare to beat her.
Not too keen on the tournament, mostly because of the host. Hopefully she will keep the non-gameplay chatter to a minimum. Not sure what's the deal with Ken not getting the job.

Look at what happened the last time a permanent host was named.

Yeah I know. They just need to stick to one host.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 3:20 pmThe strikes seem to be past Twitter behavior, voice and focus groups.doihavetoreally wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 2:24 pm ...

I'll start with low expectations for this new tournament.

Re: Friday, December 3, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I'm not sure whether or not it would have helped me if the Final clue had "on average" in it, but without it, I spent all my time trying to think of an event with a 34-minute periodicity. In hindsight, the key word in the clue was "fulfills", which should have led to only a few partner words, such as "promise", "contract", "order", and the one in the correct response.

Re: Friday, December 3, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I'm of the opinion that these last few FJs haven't been that great, but Amy is 5 for 5 on the week, and I'm 1/5, so what do I know? She reminds me of Cindy Stowell that way, in that there were a couple of clunkers when she played, and yet she was able to work them out. Some players are just really on the writers' wavelength.

Not easy for Ken to talk about the all time leaderboard without sounding like he’s bragging but he handles it well.
Amy’s FJ wagering strategy seems to be bet nearly as much as safely possible. At the rate she is getting FJ right that is a good idea.
Nothing came to me in FJ.

Not a super huge movie guy but surprised myself with a 3/5 in Quaid - loved The Rookie.
Loved even more the clue about the Burlsworth Trophy - Greater is a must watch, IMO.
Was not really all that close on FJ. I think Amy is harder to beat than Matt.

Jeers to all three contestants for running away from It's a Science.
Judges:. Gatling gun for machine gun?
I thought the mobilization clue was very poorly pinned. I guessed logistics.
on big clues. Needed about 20 seconds to suss out Make-a-Wish.
Went 4/5 in Dennis Quaid, missing only The Rookie

Same here. Missed Midway. That one seemed like a misfire by the writers. It was probably the talk of the town while it was being cast and filmed and they just didn't realize how little it made its way into public consciousness outside Hollywood.
I was surprised by the Sleepy Hollow = Tarreytown TS. That seems like one of those chestnuts.
Couldn't get any traction on FJ. Said Amnesty International to say something.

Didn't pick up properly on the word "fulfills" and went with Habitat for Humanity.

Tarrytown, but no change in pronunciation, so you're still good.opusthepenguin wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 9:29 pm I was surprised by the Sleepy Hollow = Tarreytown TS. That seems like one of those chestnuts.
