I take it they didn't use the Muppet version?

Why I have QF 1, 4 & 5 but not 2 & 3 makes no sense. I still have slim hope I'll turn them up somewhere and I'm more confident I have the SFs & Finals to get the other Newhouse games in sooner than later. $5k was WC4 although David could not have known that when making his wager.
I know the lineups for the other two games, but not sure which one was the QF2 and which one was the QF3.

Laura Speer/Ryan Godfrey/Samantha Moeschler
Stan Wu/Tracy Fisher/Peter Morris

Of course you would know from the order the semi-finalists were called out on QF Day 5.

The easiest way to find out is to see the intros and how the DJ! graphics coming out of the second commercial break appears in both of these episodes.

Or you could listen to Alex’s opening remarks as he usually makes some mention of which QF or SF game is being played.

Or I could have posted that at the end of QF5 when Alex brought out the semifinalists it was Ryan the winner of QF2 before Peter the winner of QF3. Stan was WC3.

My interpretation of jf87's post was that he knew who played from whatever source, but did not have a copy of the full games themselves.

Whatever it cost the show for that Audio DD in 1989 would be a lot more in 2020.

JF87 doesn't happen to have the scores, does he? The 1989 Teen Tournament is the only Teen Tournament missing between Dominy's and RM's archives.

2050? Try a little sooner.

Kristine had the finals teed up and sliced it into the gallery.

That Patriotic Songs category is in one of the J! video games. I remember the bottom-row clue from watching some guys in my dorm playing, c. 1994.

Player pic of Linda Krisak who played Monroe Roark & Kyle Bostian whose pics I’ve already posted:

Monroe got 8R with four coming from clues 27-30 to close the DJ! round.

Alex cold-blooded as Kyle did not need salt on the wound, but he should have got that FJ! right.

I took a quick look and did not find the answer, is Linda Krisak related to Len Krisak?

I found an obituary for a Linda Krisak who died in 2009 at age 40. It said she lived in Cleveland, which is where Case Western is. No mention of Len in her survivors.

Not saying that is her, but the player you just archived would have been around 40 in 2009.

Without realizing it I added a new game for =6667 and not knowing it was there until much later, filled in this 1989 game as =6668.

Tomorrow for the 2020 game I will turn that into the 6667 one, so abide with the snafu for a day. I am aware of it and the fix is no big deal.

For this 1989 game it was closer than I recalled for the end of the DJ! round.

At least one guy knew his sports history.

It is finished. Game #3996, January 7, 2002, David Bell vs. Dawn Jameson vs. Mark Lee, and the entirety of Season 18 is now in the books and in the Archive. Well, except for the media clues for this game. Somehow we managed to save the game with no uploaded pictures to the very end. Funny how that works sometimes.

For the record, these are those missing shots, in case I get eager and decide to do the captures:

http://www.j-archive.com/media/2002-01-07_J_04.jpg (SLANG $800)
http://www.j-archive.com/media/2002-01-07_J_04a.jpg or http://www.j-archive.com/media/2002-01-07_J_04.wmv (SLANG $800, Sofia jumping)

http://www.j-archive.com/media/2002-01-07_J_05.jpg (SLANG $1000)
http://www.j-archive.com/media/2002-01-07_J_09.jpg (AWARDS & HONORS $400)
http://www.j-archive.com/media/2002-01-07_J_21.jpg (ACTIVISM $800)

http://www.j-archive.com/media/2002-01-07_DJ_03.jpg (WORLD LIT $1200)
http://www.j-archive.com/media/2002-01-07_DJ_16.jpg (PAINT BY NUMBERS $400)
http://www.j-archive.com/media/2002-01-07_DJ_16a.jpg (PAINT BY NUMBERS $400, closeup)
http://www.j-archive.com/media/2002-01-07_DJ_19.jpg (PAINT BY NUMBERS $800)

Media captures are not a priority for me, but since we're sooooo close to having the full season, I might make an exception.

---

Notes.

Although the Closed Captions and Wikipedia both render "Butterfly" with quotation marks, Julia Butterfly Hill's personal website doesn't use them. Also, we welcome her to the J-Canon as a clue.

Clues of the game will be the bottom 3 in GOVERNMENT & POLITICS, with commentary in the spoiler boxes:
$1200: Robbie Robertson is a rock musician; this ex-governor of Wisconsin is Secretary of Health & Human Services
Spoiler
Who is Tommy Thompson? That's a unique sort of TOM.
$1600: What couldn't he do? James K. Polk was the only U.S. president to have held this congressional title, 1835-1839
Spoiler
What is Speaker of the House. That a Fun Fact You Should Know. I don't recall ever running into that one before as a "Presidential Only".
$2000: Her People Power Revolution toppled Ferdinand Marcos & led to her becoming President of the Philippines
Spoiler
Who is Corazon Aquino? Just her last name was accepted, with Alex adding the Corazon. This just seemed noteworthy to me, even though her husband is mostly a historical footnote. (As I'm typing this, I can't even recall his first name.)
FJ was a triple stumper that didn't strike me as that hard, but I think that the ALL-CAPS display of the clue makes it harder. I have it in the Archive capitalized as "the panda vs. The Rock" which gives much more information. I originally had it rendered as "the Panda vs. the Rock", preferring the parallel construction as being more in line with the "essence of the clue as a clue", if you know what I mean. But that'll just lead to endless correction suggestions, so I'm going to stick with what I've got.

David was a strong player who hit a tough FJ on day 4. Too bad, I'd have liked to have seen more of him.

I'm not sure what's next on my list, but I know one of the games is a partial. Not looking forward to that. Stay safe, everyone.

Okay, 1/7/02 is Promontory point for S18. Thanks for all the games you did on that season, Myron.

You should have quoted Gerald Ford now that the season is complete after all these years?

His run is quite a roller coaster. Check out his FJ wager in day 4. (And day 3 for that matter. And see what happened in the last three clues of day 2!)

I'll save that for when all the runner-up prizes have been updated. :D

I was surprised the FJ in the game just archived was a TS. But I also thought the FJ in David’s fourth game was easy, but maybe that’s just me.

I added 5/18/89: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6669

Tom Cubbage, Alex Yang and Linda Krisak got the finals off to a good start with only 6 blemishes out of a possible 63.

Canseco, Clemens & Strawberry - [sarcasm] Yeah, their reputations have held up well since 1989. Canseco is the king and this month he is touting a seminar for lucid dreaming. And if I had a dollar for every time I've seen that home run ball bounce off his noggin...
