There appears to be a stray apostrophe before the first letter in the answer of DJ2.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 6:27 pm Courtesy of kingskip I added 4/20/92: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6919

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Yeah, on the same clue Georgia's i was an !. Fixed and thanks. The OCR worked pretty good for this game and saw things better than the 1991 one this morning. I don't have Al's losing game, but my scoresheet shows a third entering FJ! and missed FJ! clue so promising start quickly fizzled.Bamaman wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 6:37 pmThere appears to be a stray apostrophe before the first letter in the answer of DJ2.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 6:27 pm Courtesy of kingskip I added 4/20/92: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6919

Al took names and numbers in the game above and I'm sure Frank would have been fine with his game never surfacing.

Page 2? I have the solution for that.

Sean got clowned on by Alex at DD2 & DD3.
Not a senior citizen but I'm raising my hand along with the old folks in the audience.
For the FJ! clue I matched Michael's two.

I matched Sean. Given time I could have gotten five right. I blame Santa for not knowing who the other one served under. Interesting they took Sean’s response.

That catches me up on the old games that have come my way. It's always nice to get another ToCer marked in the archive for regular play.
Whether a Marc or a Mark we know how to solve that FJ! clue.
The tie in the previous game happened with Phil staying pat with 10200 while Linda doubled her 5100.

I might have bet $200 in Linda’s spot. She had doubled him up twice in a row so I would keep someone I knew I could beat around. Plus he might return the favor if he led the next day.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Sorry, no new old game entered. It was not until this evening that I noticed the ticker on the archive was at 410,041 for the clue count.
If I have counted correctly then J18 of 9/21/92 game was 410,000 on the nose for that milestone. By coincidence the 405,000th clue was a 1992 game as well.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
This isn't the longest I've taken to finish up a game entry, but it's up there. Continuing India's tape, we have January 15, 1992, Walter Mayes vs. Dom Muoio vs. John Ferraro.
https://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6359
Alex introduces the middle contestant as "Dominick" during the interview, and also during FJ, but he's Dom on his monitor and in the opening caption.
I mentioned some stuff about this game a few pages ago, so I won't repeat that. When I take so long on a game, I often forget what clues I found particularly interesting. I will say I got a smile out of the triple stumper at THE EARTH for $1000. If I hadn't taking a guess on that mineral in my first game, my Jeopardy experience would have been quite different.
Clue of the game will be one box over, LITERATURE for $1000, new to the archive as a correct response. When I speak of something being J-Canon, what I mean is that it has been a correct response, or it has been the crux of a clue leading to a correct response. Both the title an author were already in, but this plot detail was not. I suppose there are enough hints in the clue that it becomes potentially a Bible question; it's definitely a Venn diagram with a large overlap portion.
The Amway clue at the end of the game led me to make a correction suggestion for a later clue in the Archive, re: what L.O.C. stands for. Now I just have to find proof that I'm right, vis-à-vis capitalization. (Uh-oh.)
ETA: Found a reference on amway-dot-com. That's official enough, I'd say. https://www.amway.com/en_US/about-amway/history
One more game on the tape, but I think I haven't digitized it yet. Have a good night.

In "Fast and Furry-ous", his debut appearance from 1949, the name of the Coyote's nemesis is given as 2 words: Road Runner.
The name of the actual bird is typically given as 1 word: roadrunner.

4-17-1985
9-17-1985
9-27-1985
4-11-1986
For particulars of the players:
4/17/85
Marcia Friedman, graphic artist, Rolling Hills Estates, CA
John Pendleton, substitute teacher, Ventura, CA
Matt Hubbard, computer game designer, Palo Alto, CA
9/17/85
Janet Baxter, writer researcher, Beverly Hills, CA
Alan Rubin, attorney, Orig. Queens, NY
9/27/85
Allan Yuri, public relations director, Orig. Chicago, IL
Diane Koop, railroad telegrapher, Orig. Palestine IL
4/11/86
Gregory Charles, freelance photographer, Studio City, CA
Kathy Collins, attorney, Des Moines, IA
The last names are guesses and I could be way off on what I heard. It was hard for me to read the double L Allan as that or Allen. Any help and corrections are always appreciated.
Dating the games works out well with returning champs already in the archive.
I'll get the games in as time allows and already there is rumor on the street of a fifth one out there coming in soon.

I hear Bachelor for Janet Baxter and Hope for Diane Koop. I interpret Mr. Yuri's cursive as Allen rather than Allan though it's a close call.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:20 pm 9/17/85

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Oh you know what? Steve Bowie from the S2 premiere recently posted pictures in the J! contestants Facebook group of the notes he took on a few episodes after his, and 9/17/85 is one of them. For what it's worth, he wrote Janet Bachelor and Alan Rubin (presumably working from an original broadcast rather than an old recording).
Also for what it's worth, he had these names for the preceding games:
9/13/85:
Wayne Seidin, a lawyer from Miami Beach [edit: Steve actually wrote "Seipin" and I misread his block capitals. As it turns out, Wayne's last name is spelled Cypen.]
Jay Rosenberg, a professor from Chapel Hill
Teresa O'Neill, a contracts administrator from Santa Clara, CA (champ)
9/16/85:
Kimberly Power, an Air Force captain from Manhasset, NY
Mary Williamson, a student from Phoenix [edit: it was actually Missy Williamson, and I misread Steve's cursive.]
(I've found an article from 1990 that quoted a Maj. Kimberly Power of the Air Force.)
