Jana and her misses turned Michael into Sir Charles.

I matched Michael for the FJ! round except I got the last N in.

The 1996 me would have been as clueless as 2021 me on this FJ.

Spoiler
His opera Amahl and the Night Visitors was the first opera composed expressly for television. That nugget, which got lodged in my head 25 years ago, was my only in for this one. That's a work that comes up on the show occasionally so it's worth knowing.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

Betting $1000 on a top row DD when you have a four day champ on the ropes earns you a trap door. As does not being nice and offering a tie.

The DD3 guy is in the news today for less pleasant reasons.
I read your post before I clicked the game link and I assumed that Carol Anne simply added the extra dollar or slightly more as usual.

But, no. She actually made a Lazarus wager. Frank should have had no chance at all to win, but she overwagered to the point to needlessly gave him one.

I have defended overbets in the past, but I will not try to defend this one.

And that after only $1,000 on a top row DD.

Indeed a textbook example of earning a trap door.

A rare game with no TS clues in the DJ! round.

The FJ! clue was a miss for me in 1996 while in 2021 I could solve it quickly. CLASSIC TELEVISION (2/5) & TELEVISION (2/6) are 5/5s for me no matter which decade I play them.

Susan had a really good first round. She accumulated barely any money in the DJ! Round (and she stopped entirely after DJ! 16) and still managed to go into Final with the lead.

I managed to get the Final, but it was not an instaget. I got stuck for a good 15 seconds trying to figure out if any Shakes plays ended with "King".

The song title in DJ21 needs some tidying up in regards to capitalization.

Thanks for your work in getting these games in.

Done, thanks. I caught the "by" needing to be "By" and missed the second "day" being in lowercase. It's always fun cleaning up after the OCR does the heavy lifting.

8 games on my list not counting the expectation that one more from S13 will appear this week.

I never know what words other than the first and last to capitalize in song titles.

Is "mus!cal" supposed to be spelled with an exclamation point in DJ20?

If the OCR had its way, then yes. Fixed, thanks. And good to see you back to posting here.

Negfest. It often happened that after a 5xer retired the next game with three newbies was not J! at its best. The following game was a lot, lot better.

No go for me on the FJ! clue as I spent think time trying to recall Gene (played by Ed Harris) Kranz.

I just happened to watch this game right before you posted it. There were some bad misses here. Home field advantage made FJ an instaget in 2021 and 1996.

Instaget, or nearly so. If you ignore the date, I can see negging with "Bikini Atoll", although its much smaller land area makes it implausible for reasons beyond the date.

Paul’s FJ! clue response was a mess and he’s lucky it got by the judges. Don would have made the ToC if it did not pass muster.

59R by the gentlemen with just the one TS. Don won the J! round easily, but Paul (sounds so much like Leszek), took care of business the rest of the way. Other than penmanship.
