First guess Wednesday was Titanic, didn’t bother to reconsider.
Laughably off base Friday.

Have crossed the Arno in Florence on the Ponte Vecchio.

Seine on Tuesday. I might have gotten Memphis but was beaten to it at home before I could solidify things in my mind. Overall not a bad way to finish the year.

Cluelessness on Tues and Fri, memory lapses on Wed and Thurs...
I saw the last 2 Broadway revivals of Waiting for Godot, with Ian McKellen-Patrick Stewart and Nathan Lane-Bill Irwin. I missed the famous off-Broadway one in the 80s with Robin Williams-Steve Martin. As these names might indicate, the play is no longer considered all that hard to understand...

I guess I wasn't in a New York State of mind.

The Lennon-meets-McCartney story was long familiar to me so it's hard to opine about how hard or easy the question was, but the "schoolboy" self-description might suggest an age difference of more than 23 days. On the other hand, it might have been meant to evoke the New York City pair's 1957 release "Hey Schoolgirl".

I am quite surprised to see only two prior FJ appearances by Robert Falcon Scott in the archive. His diary seems made to order for the purpose. Perhaps one or two or missing; in particular, I'm sure I remember "it seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more".

I've seen and photographed Nast's tombstone too, but I don't want to become known as the graveyard guy.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Got only Beale thanks to "Walking in Memphis".

I've been doing this for a while. This is my first box of shame. Good riddance to December.

No guess, Danube, Titanic, no guess, Simon & Garfunkel

Never read or seen Waiting for Godot.
I've been to Florence, so I probably saw the Arno.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

I was aware that S&G met as youngsters at school. "Church fair" and "drunk" also seemed to rule them out, so I was confident in Lennon and McCartney.

Saw the Arno in person for the first time in October during a Mediterranean cruise. Our ship docked in Livorno, but I opted to visit Lucca rather than Florence, so I crossed the Arno but didn't see it in Florence proper. Perhaps I would have heard about the 1966 flood had I done a Florence tour, but Lucca was cool, too! :D
