Dick Clark dies at 82

Post by Bamaman »

I was never a big fan of Bandstand, but I always enjoyed him on the Pyramid shows.

RandyG's version of the Jeopardy curse.

Dick will be missed.

What's the Jeopardy curse? (Googling didn't help.) And another music icon from the 60s (and 70s) may go any day now too, but I can't take credit for that, since it's been expected for a while now. Don't want to chance giving away any quiz answers so....

Sometimes celebrities die within days of being mentioned in a Jeopardy clue.

Sorry, bad joke.

Also, Levon Helm from the Band is in his "final stages" of cancer, according to a statement posted yesterday. So two 60s/70s musical icons. The Band and the Bee Gees were both ranked in the 80s on VH1's 2010 list of the 100 Greatest Artists, which if some of you have seen it, will get a chuckle about some of the artists mentioned and some other notable names not on it(which were on VH1's 1998 list and not on 2010's)

Now I'll have to think of a new team name for pub quiz at the end of the year. One of my faves from a couple of years ago was "Dick Clark's New Years Strokin' Eve". My teammates cringed when I said it, so I knew it was a winner.

Though Clark's now dead, I suppose it's probably too much to hope for that Jeopardy! will never run another rock and roll category.

My team at tonight's pub quiz was "New Year's Croakin' Eve." Best name, though, was "Dick in a Box."

Yeah. Along with Opera and Ballet and (any kind of) Art and History and Geography.

Oh yeah, and Word Origins, Presidents, Capitals....

Gee, there just isn't enough room to list them all.

If I had 50 cents for every math question I got right, I'd have $6.30 by now.

That was the Fark.com headline for this story too.
