Re: Monday, January 24, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
If anyone thought Amy was going to lose because of her appearance on GMA this morning it did not take long to see that was not happening.
Well done writers, I love the Bree trap in the writers category, especially since I have the book and the knew the author.
It does not take much research to see Joanne had to get her $1000 back and another $1000 for a correct response on the Egyptian goddess reversal.
I howled with laughter on the double misses for the Crockett & Tubbs clue.
The FJ! clue had me know both parts for a city + museum connect the dots to match Joanne. Too bad her sole solve meant nothing other than pride. Well, and driving floridagator more exasperated since he would obviously be rooting for Joanne.
Amy passed Matt for wins, though not with style, in losing another 25 large. Bet less or solve the clue. There is only one James.

GOVERNMENT AGENCIES $800: The mission of BLM, short for this, is "to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands"
Imagine if a contestant had gone another way with BLM.

Re: Monday, January 24, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Blanked on fulcrum. This is happening more and more lately. I think the window of opportunity for me to be a contestant has closed. I did get Moses and the bulrushes though. Poor Erin did the right thing by going all-in but couldn't get there. Erin got bit (poked?) again a little later when she Pavloved to porcupine off "quilled mammal" and it turned out they wanted hedgehog, bugger it all! I joined her in that miss. I'm playing off the archive and don't have the video yet, so I don't know if Amy tried to ring in initially or just picked this one up as an obvious rebound.
ROMA LIFE & CULTURE, eh? You writers wouldn't be doing a little penance for a certain incident last April, would you? I clammed on Auschwitz for the Nazi camp, even though that was my guess. What if it's Bergen-Belsen? I mean, that doesn't seem as likely, but neither did hedgehog. Still, against Amy I'd say the right thing might be to ring in an hope your guess pays off. I'm surprised they managed to avoid an "unchained" TOM in the clue about the legendary Roma jazz guitarist.
I froze on the BLM clue because all I could think of was Black Lives Matter, which is not a government agency.
And... poor Erin misses again by Pavloving to Anne Rice off "vampire novels" when they wanted Stephanie Meyer. Amy tried for the rebound but had nothing. I wonder if she reflexively rang in before her brain registered that the Anne Rice guess had already been taken. That was my guess as well.
Would've said snake for timber and sidewinder and waited for the BMS to provide more info. The RATTLE in the category didn't have quotation marks, so I think I'd have gotten away with it.
I didn't remember the Prince song just went by 1999. I'm assuming "Party Like It's 1999 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" would slide by? Maybe not. All the other correct responses just had the year followed by some verbiage. But this was the first clue and I didn't know how it worked.
I think I knew RADAR was an acronym, but I didn't recall what it stood for. I'd be in a similar pickle with SONAR. If SCUBA comes up, I'm good.
How many of you would've gotten the host of Betwixt Two Ferns if you'd had to SPELL his first and last name?
So Crockett and Tubbs doesn't ring a bell anymore? I feel old. I never watched a single episode of that show, but I knew the names. Of course I did. Everybody did.
Said Smithsonian for FJ. Rats.

opusthepenguin: ZG is the kind of name I google and copy/paste into the archive while Stephenie Meyer I can do on my own.
