Suggestions and Changes for Season 39

Post by jeopardyfan939 »

I know this is a bit early, but we have about four months remaining in Season 38. So I wanted to make a post regarding what changes we will and may see in Season 39. Most obviously, we should have a new permanent host by then. Former executive producer Mike Richards initially was Alex's successor at the start of this season, but he stepped down due to some controversial Twitter posts from 2014. And instead, we have Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik taking turns hosting (unlike last season when we had various guest hosts). Now, to the nitty gritty. Here are the changes I would like to see next season:

- Ken is the permanent host for the regular syndicated series while Mayim does primetime spinoffs
- Music package gets refreshed, or at least have Bleeding Fingers record the "Think" cue so that it matches the new theme
- The podiums get spaced closer together again, now that more COVID restrictions are being lifted
- Bring back the studio audience
- Use a completely different title card, not reuse the same one from Season 37.
- Perhaps roll out a completely new set. The current one debuted in Season 30, even though it was slightly modified last season.
- Resume holding the Teachers Tournament and Teen Tournament if either one doesn't get held this season

What changes would you like to see next season?

For the record, it was the podcasts Michael Richards did while at The Price is Right that did him in.

A new set, and put the podiums closer together. Continue to keep the video clues at a minimum (no Clue Crew), they take up too much game time. I assume the audience would be back. I know Michael Davies wants to modernize the show, but I hope he leaves it pretty much alone.

I hope the next primetime special is an All-Stars tournament if there is another one in the summer.

I would like the contestants to do the credits chat prior to Alex's injury

WTF?

Here’s a thought, we’ve got a full 4 months of the current season to get through. How about we focus on that?

Less cowbell.

I’ve been an advocate of more cowbell in the past, feverish for it, and the show has been generous with their cowbell increases. But now it’s too much. There’s way too much cowbell now. I can’t even hear the clues anymore.
I had a dream that I was asleep and then I woke up and Jeopardy! was on.

if Ken is regular host and Mayim is primetime host, then I want Buzzy as permanent Tournament host.

It's been a month, but Michael Davies will be the new permanent executive producer for Jeopardy! starting next season.

Just one.

In those 2 day finals, have 2 single Jeopardy rounds on day 1 and 2 Double Jeopardy rounds on day 2. Make it tougher for someone to make it a runaway on day 1.

I’ve had this idea roughly 25 years.

Also, as was the case with the Fleming-era tournaments, allow contestants to wager money from the first day on second-day DDs or FJ! (and if they finished in the negative on the first day that carries over).

So score is always cumulative and riskable? Interesting. Would certainly make it easier for people at home to have an idea who is ahead and by how much. Being a math geek that hasn’t been a problem for me, but I had to explain to my GF at the end of a recent tournament why one player had already won and should bet 0.
