Going back to the old ways of contestant selection & not using the same pool that Divided used.

You’re not the only one who passed the zoom test and never heard anything.
This tells me after that it’s either a random draw or they are already casting and only care about demographics at this stage.

Have the contestants be awarded medals with third place getting $1,000 and a bronze medal, second place will get $2,000 and a silver medal and the champion gets a gold medal.

1. Make Ken the full-time permanent host.
2. Reduce or eliminate the cute patter right after the contestant intro.

That's yes on 1 no on 2 for me. I like the patter and Ken is really good at it. I'd prefer:
2. Play. Every. Clue.
I think people would complain less about the cute stuff, even if it wasn't their cup of tea, if we knew that we would see every clue get played in every game.

Re: Suggestions and Changes for Season 39
Some of Ken's patters at that point remind me of a Dennis Miller riff. Which probably should be eschewed. Preferably by a ruminant. Makes him seem too happy to be there.
Alex had mastered the "I have a definite personality, but most of the time you're not even aware I'm here" vibe. I liked that.
Mayim, unfortunately, isn't improving. While I had high hopes for her, I'm hoping Ken (minus a bit of happy) gets the day-to-day gig.
Mostly, though, I'd just like a return to tryouts rather than casting. It's not about looks at all. There are simply too many non-competitive contestants and an over-reliance on pop culture this season.

I'm thinking a Price Is Right style thing where you have 100 smart people in the room and your name gets called and you're told to come on down.

sorry, but the "good at it" and "I like the patter" parts are opinions, the part where this is pre-written as opposed to when Alex was mostly (partly) spontaneous is obvious.seaborgium wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 9:31 amKeep fixing!

I think Ken's delivery is better than the writing...and maybe Alex was so good at it, we never knew what was written.triviawayne wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 10:05 amsorry, but the "good at it" and "I like the patter" parts are opinions, the part where this is pre-written as opposed to when Alex was mostly (partly) spontaneous is obvious.seaborgium wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 9:31 amKeep fixing!

Re: Suggestions and Changes for Season 39
I've stopped watching the show for now, but I do look at the contestant zone page each Monday to see who got the call before me. Not too many spots available anymore for my demo. I think I'd make a fine contestant, but I don't seem to occupy any of the niches they're casting for.Anachronism wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 2:07 am Mostly, though, I'd just like a return to tryouts rather than casting. I'm talking about the part where you put Opus's words in John Boy's quote space and your words in Opus's space and no words in your own space.triviawayne wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 10:05 amsorry, but the "good at it" and "I like the patter" parts are opinions, the part where this is pre-written as opposed to when Alex was mostly (partly) spontaneous is obvious.seaborgium wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 9:31 amKeep fixing!

Bumping this thread to note that on Buy a Vowel Boards, someone said that they called Wheel of Fortune and a receptionist told them that audiences are returning for the upcoming season. Hopefully, this is a sign that Jeopardy! will return to having audiences for Season 39.

Good. They can stop faking it, and we'll stop hearing laughter at Ken's jokes.gameshowfandanny wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 9:06 am Bumping this thread to note that on Buy a Vowel Boards, someone said that they called Wheel of Fortune and a receptionist told them that audiences are returning for the upcoming season. The types of people who show up for "Jeopardy!" tapings are also the types of people who laugh at Ken's jokes. (Also, I'm sure the producers/editors will "sweeten" the audience response whenever they feel it necessary, just as they did in the past.)triviawayne wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 10:28 am Good. I'm the type of person that would show up for a Jeopardy taping, I am not the type to laugh at Ken's jokes.trainman wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 1:39 amThe types of people who show up for "Jeopardy!" tapings are also the types of people who laugh at Ken's jokes.
