It’s one person who keeps trying to stir up political crap. Pretty sure they’ve already been asked to stop several dozen times. I guess we should just keep asking though.DysonSphere wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 2:42 pm No politics, please. Like everyone else these days, I have my own personal political opinions, but I couldn't care less what the politics of a host are, or anything they do outside the show for that matter.

Even though the 4th of July was yesterday it's easy to tell today is a holiday:
J! players for this week not updated
J!6 for 7/5 categories not updated
USA Today no print delivery
Rex Parker does not have his comments for the 7/5 NYT crossword up yet
The neighbors across the street did not have to move their cars for street cleaning

Well, well, well fellow football fans on the boards.
What do we think? Is football(soccer) "comin' home"?

Has anyone here heard of the movie "Crossroads"? It appeared on America Says yesterday. My Mom and sister who are massive movie buffs have never heard of it.
I only know Crossroads as a British soap opera.
So what is it? Black Comedy? Sports Movie? Old Western? Any hits of the movie in the J!Archive?

AUUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!!! Bad flashback! My daughters demanded that I take them to see it. It might have been the worst movie I've ever seen, and not in a good way like some bad movies are.

There are at least 3 movies by this name in IMDb, so I don't know how we're supposed to know...though I'm betting nobody's talking about the one that starred William Powell and Hedy Lamarr.
I should add that it's the '42 I'd most like to see: "An amnesiac French diplomat is blackmailed for crimes that he committed before he lost his memory." TCM, where are you??

And the America Says survey chooses that movie and Eurotrip(Another movie no one in my family has ever heard of, evidently a 2004 sex comedy, also sounds bad.)
Oh yeah, the question of the round was, "My favorite movie that features a road trip is..."
Surprisingly, Little Miss Sunshine, Dumb and Dumber, Rain Man, Are We There Yet, NOT on the list.
Might as well take them to Bunol and throw tomatoes at them.

Crossroads was an 80’s movie starring Ralph Macchio and Joe Senaca about two Bluesmen traveling from NYC to the middle of Mississippi. Good flick. Mozart’s Turkish March sounds awesome on guitar.

In the footsteps of Robert Johnson, as I recall. I don't remember it much, but a friend who was a musician loved it. (You might get away with it as a Final Jeopardy, but his name was Joe Seneca.)

“Scotty doesn’t know” is classic. The rest of it can be skipped. It’s pretty well known.

Some friends and I watched Mariah Carey's Glitter along with Ms. Spears' Crossroads as a campy Girls' Night In double feature. Not enough alcohol in the world. . .

Having that song in my head successfully got me through a US Open local qualifier. The movie is awesome with so many memorable quotes.Ironhorse wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 7:13 pmThis may be the first time "Scotty Doesn't Know" and "classic" have been used in the same sentence.MattKnowles wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 6:26 pm“Scotty doesn’t know” is classic. I am probably the only person here who thinks of the British soap opera when hearing Crossroads.
