Substantially easier than yesterday. I think I only missed
Spoiler
fourth president - one of the M guys... said Monroe (Madison)
Spargel - said celergy (it is asparagus)
Optimist's Daughter - said Morrison (it's Eudora Welty)
California Mill - said Sutton (it's Sutter)
Flock of Geese not flying - had nothing, said waddle (it's gaggle)
100 yrs of solitude - blanked, couldn't get Guy Gavriel Kay out of my mind, despite having read the book (Gabriel Garcia Marquez)
giving 44.

I'm in California and felt it was weighted pretty heavily this way. Eggers and Warriors questions might be tougher for the Central crowd, however. That said, I'll take all the help I can get to make up for my ignorance of network TV shows (that aren't Jeopardy!).

Best of luck!

Agreed...had probably 41 last night. Only 5 tonight I was unsure about. Finally picked the correct night to take it for real! Now will cross my fingers and hope for an audition. It would be nice to find out they don't want me on the show because of my appearance and personality for a change, instead of my not scoring high enough to pass the test! :D

Have I just not noticed on prior tests, or is it a new add where they reveal the category for a few seconds before each clue? It made it a lot easier for me to focus vs. spending a few precious seconds on each clue trying to decipher what they were looking for.
Yes, I think that was new. Very helpful...But no before-and-afters or anything I recall where the category was tricky...

43 for me with some very silly mistakes. The transcript is available as a PDF here on the J! site.

Annoyed that I got the middle name wrong on the three name authors clue. Normally I would've just given the last name (which I did for all the other clues), but my recollection is that when there's a category named like that on the show, they'll want all three names. Personally kicking myself for blanking on Gene Hackman and adding an L to start "Eggers".

True...I guess it just allowed my brain a few seconds to reset between questions, which aided considerably.

^ If the answers posted above are correct, I got 33 correct. Still, I should have done better. I thought of Eudora Welty for Mississippi but thought she was too old to win a 1973 Pulitzer.

Oh well...WTNY, I guess. Good luck to everyone else. I will live vicariously through your success as the process moves along.

I put down Teller for "The Father of the Hydrogen Bomb". I assume they will accept that, based on http://j-archive.com/search.php?search= ... mit=Search ?

Thoughts on rod instead of rivet?

I typed Maybeliine but didn't think that was right anyway so didn't correct the typo. But maybe they'll accept it and I did better even than I thought...
