I said pyrexic. Judges?
I'd give it to you.

I whiffed on FJ! with Golden Age. I must have a mental block about 1812--some time ago, I missed a fairly easy FJ! in which 1812 was one of the key dates.

The closed captioner misspelled "minuscule".

I liked all three contestants, but got irritated toward the end when they started doing things such as guessing Greeks in the Nero category.

I didn't do very well on the country music category (managed to pull out Carrie Underwood), but I ran the French animals category. Should have run the Casino category but responded with a stupid Monte Carlo instead of Monaco. Did pull out the Praetorian Guard.

After that clue I said to my wife "or 'miniscule' as lots of people like to spell it."

Can't say tonight's FJ came to me instantly, but within a few seconds I was able to put the pieces together.

I got FJ! from the 1964 part, but I have been trying to find out what British Invasion happened in 1812. The only 1812 invasion I have ever heard of is the U.S. invasion of (what is now) Canada.

Lisa has me convinced. She's the real deal. I still think she looks a bit like Lisa Loeb ca. '94, but that's just me. Got all of the LT tonight and an instaget FJ. A well played game apart from the timid DD wagers. Did anyone else notice that Lisa offered a tie?

Lisa won with 20800 and Amanda had 10300 for the FJ! round.

Ah, that makes sense. I saw the round number and jumped to a conclusion.

I went with nanny state, on the basis of Mary Poppins coming out in 1964. That seemed to fit that half of the clue, though I wasn't quite sure how it tied into 1812 "literally."

I said "house fire" for lack of other ideas (or a forest for the trees). Even if 1964 could be considered the start of a figurative house fire, however, the burning of the White House was in 1814.

I went with Great Awakening, though I guess the literal meaning of that would be a bunch of people simultaneously coming out of a long slumber. 'British invasion' makes sense in retrospect, but I wasn't going to get there myself.

"Pyrexic" in the science sense may be correct but IIRC the other part of the clue referred to underwear, and I don't think there's such a thing as "pyrexic underwear," so my guess is you'd be negged.

My brother is one of the world's biggest Willie Nelson fans, so I imagine he'd be so proud of me for picking up the Lach Trash on "red-headed stranger."

Once again it helps to be "of a certain age." Jerry Lewis for his roll in the movie "The Bellboy" was an Instaget for a guy who remembers when the movie was in first run.

Once again I didn't do well for most of the game in Lach Trash but later on, staring with Willie Nelson, I picked up Cape Horn, Hemingway, Jerry Lewis, and Praetorian Guard.

British Invasion was another pretty-much-Instaget.

Congrats to the champ on an impressive run.

Can somebody refresh my memory on the wording of the Point Barrow clue? Also, remind me which category it was in. Point Barrow came to me but I rejected it because I thought the response had to be a cape.

Final took me about 10 seconds to figure out.

Don't blink today, or you'll miss the Jeopardy! round entirely. These ladies all move through the board with all due haste.
I think the J! round Coryat was 17,200 as the only bump in the road was Reba McEntire as the "The Red Headed Stranger?"

slam: Nice to see a post from you. Did you know The Bellboy = Jerry Lewis? When the clue came up I thought only Julie had a chance of possibly getting it.

Febrile seemed like the choice no. 1 response, but of course fevered had to be accepted as well.
Tin Woodman would be the best response and Tin Man was accepted as well. What I wonder about is if the show would have let Tin Woodsman squeak by?

The FJ! category had a bark worse than its bite as my correct response was done before Alex finished reading.
Mark: Thanks. For a long time I've been watching J! on delays ranging from 2 weeks to 2 months from my DVR. I made a strong effort to catch up so I could watch Julie's game in order the day it aired.

I did happen to sort of know that. His name popped into my mind and I felt just confident enough to buzz in. Of course, who knows what would have happened under the lights. Not sure if Julie knew it but wasn't confident enough to buzz in.

Yes, they were clearly looking for "febrile underwear," but "fevered underwear" was judged close enough.

I thought the thermal clue was the one about underwear. Unless that's the joke.

I think you're mixing up different clues. Underwear was referenced in a clue that was looking for "thermal." Either that, or the joke went over my head.

Thank you. OK, so I missed "this Alaskan point" in the clue. Silly me.

I wonder, if there had been a contestant who was unaware - or maybe just muddled - about the term, and had in a stab come up with "English invasion," if it would have been accepted?
"Dual-Use Terms" is a pretty vague pin, unlike, say, Familiar Phrases...
BTW, a google search for "English invasion" defaults, top result, to the phenomenon of the Beatles, et al.
