The ladies today ALL CAME TO PLAY.
Love it. Fantastic game, with moments of weird interspersed into an absolute slugfest.
Every Daily Double that was called was a TRUE DAILY DOUBLE. Awesome.
I absolutely loved watching this game.
Our Champ is a BOSS.
(and i now realize there was a lot of probably over-enthusiastic unnecessary capitalization there, so i'll ee cummings this last bit to try to pull it back).
gg all. thanks for putting on a fun show today.

I'm living proof to show that a good attitude, a Southern accent, a ridiculous beard, and a middling amount of trivia knowledge can get you onto Jeopardy!

I found it amusing that a 3-woman game had a DD that wanted testosterone.
A little better today with 58 clues played before the FJ! round as the pace picked up to close the DJ! round.
The FJ! clue was a lucky guess for me as I worked out what to write after dismissing Greenland.
Annie was fortunate to get the repeat after failing to find the partner for the NYT in the NIXON category DD that cost her the farm.

It was a pretty small farm, more like a garden spot, at the juncture, though.MarkBarrett wrote:

Admirable comeback work from that early DJ DD dip, though; especially with pulling the much more difficult DD2 in the round for a TDD to get fully back in the mix. So, fortunate, yes, but not just blindly lucky. It was really a very even match, all around.

I could picture Princess and the Frog, but for some reason my mouth said Tangled. Oops. All those Disney Princesses blend together anyway.
Ran Scien"T"ific and Mustache.
"Clothing store named for a woman" was a case where knowing too much cost me. Being a retail nerd, I cycled among Lane Bryant, Christopher & Banks, Bon Worth, Jos. A. Bank, Coldwater Creek, Deb Shop, Foxmoor Casuals, Fashion Bug, County Seat, and Jeans West, and never got to Ann Taylor in time.
Tunisia = Arabic, huh?
2/5 in R&B, which is not bad considering I didn't recognize the bottom 3 artists at all.
The DD in Nixon struck me as very YEKIOYD. Just pick two random big newspapers.
Vatican just didn't feel right somehow.

Another lucky guess on FJ for me. Logic told me that the Vatican City was one of the smallest, if not THE smallest, identified countries in the world, so I went along with that.

Saudi Arabia ....?
Re: Thursday, March 9, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
Not knowing where Tunisia is besides "Africa", I had no idea what language could be spoken there.

Rachel looked crushed at the end; it's got to be tough to play well and then miss FJ, but she lost to a good player. I wonder if she misread the FJ clue?
Good game by all, but the fact that no one recognized Carole Lombard was a little sad. Her last movie, To Be Or Not To Be is a classic. Start watching TCM, people!
And those Nixon clues really threw the youngsters as well.

Vatican was near instaget. There have to be at least...... 100 women in Saudi Arabia I would imagine.

For FJ I debated between Pitcairn Island and South Sudan, and went with the latter.

The NY Times would be a pretty obvious guess as it is the country's best known paper. The Post was the one that broke the Watergate story in addition to being based in Washington and likely having a strong political reporting staff.TenPoundHammer wrote:

Several reporters/editors from other papers are mentioned, but only one other newspaper is mentioned by name. Take a guess which one (good luck, you'll need it! ).Bamaman wrote:The NY Times would be a pretty obvious guess as it is the country's best known paper. I guess sometimes limited knowledge in a field isn't a bad thing. Had I had a wider range of options in my head instead of just the well-known Vatican City, I would have probably picked the wrong one as well.

Hot take: Saudi Arabia wasn't that bad a guess if you focused on "citizenry." It's not unreasonable to think Saudi women might not be full citizens.

Great game.
When was the last game with all 3 TDDs?
Rachel looked absolutely crushed... Played like a boardie, maybe a lurker.
Other than one song, I have no idea on 4songs in r&b.
Instaget on FJ.
P.S. was jboard always 'not secure'..Or this the impact of last crash?

Well, someone has to be the smart aleck to point out that one of those isn't a country and the other has a population of more than 12 million.JayK33 wrote:Good guesses, though.StevenH wrote:For FJ I debated between Pitcairn Island and South Sudan, and went with the latter.

This was a good FJ clue because it did require a little thought. And they just had a clue a few minutes before about nuns, too.
Come to think of it, they've been a little heavy with the Catholic clues lately.
