I'm 20 years old and I have only seen one Wile E. Coyote cartoon. Had it not been for my 9th grade physics class, I would have been one of those people who apply. This Is Kirk! wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 12:22 pm It's amazing to me there could be an adult in the United States who has never seen a Coyote and Roadrunner cartoon.

Instagets Mon and Tues.
Paul Revere Wed. Would've had it if I'd stopped reading after "In a famous 1775 speech..."
Completely lost Thurs. Went with a total WAG of St. George.
Sapphire on Fri.
I used to live in Athens, Georgia and played trivia several times at a bar there called the Volstead.
Have never read nor seen East of Eden.
Have seen every Wile E. Coyote cartoon made before 1966 multiple times. Big fan of the shorts with him versing Bugs Bunny as well as the Road Runner ones.
I did the exact same thing. "Gem State" vs "Treasure State" has tripped me up several times in the past.Saturnalia wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 11:31 am Said "Idaho" for Treasure State. Idaho is the Gem State, though it has the Treasure Valley.
I would prefer not to.

John Adams, cerulean (Turkey was the first Eurasian country I thought of, but then I didn't think of turquoise. So I guessed a shade of blue I didn't know the origin of.)

(I'm counting the Jade Emperor as a correct answer to Thursday's FJ, and my answer in the survey reflects that.)

Confucius on Thursday.
Correctly got Turquoise on Friday, but on another day, I almost might have put "azure", since it somewhat sounds like Azerbaijan!

Re: FJs for the 9/17/18 week
Chez Penguin is 5 for 5 this week. We both got Monday through Wednesday. She picked up Thursday but not Friday while I reversed that.
I see that Confucius is out-polling Buddha, Thursday's correct response, 42 to 22 -- so almost 2 to 1. I'm one of the 31 who didn't choose either. I didn't recognize the China connection and felt helpless on that one. My two guesses were Noah or the lion. The latter guess involved imagining that this was one of those Just So stories or beast fables that involves the king of the animals calling the others together and blah blah blah.
We didn't poll Absalom, Absalom!, the popular wrong guess for Monday's FJ. But the correct response is polling at 65%, so no chance of the incorrect response outpacing it.
"Eurasian" proved to be the key for me on Friday's FJ. I started by going through shades of blue--azure, sapphire, cerulean, etc. Turquoise wasn't on my radar any more than teal was. It just isn't blue enough. So I switched gears and started thinking of European countries, snubbing Asia completely. I remember thinking of Liechtenstein and Belarus for some reason before the light went on and I realized I only knew two countries with land on both continents. Turkey led to turquoise in plenty of time.
On the state song, I think Montana would have been one of my first 25 guesses. More than that, I'm not prepared to say.

Re: FJs for the 9/17/18 week
(would have gotten Volstead Act on a DD but clammed otherwise)
Have not read or seen East of Eden. I think I ended up at Of Mice and Men but not happy about it.
Have seen Wile E. Coyote.
Paul Revere on Wednesday.
Confucius on Thursday.
Considered Sapphire and Lapis Lazuli on Friday--for some reason, Turquoise didn't occur to me.
