I seem to be stuck at 4/5 in a lot of categories. Why can't I ever run anything anymore? Even worse, one of my 4/5s had all but the $200. I just blanked on "gopher" because I momentarily forgot the "G" requirement and couldn't sort through the rodent family in time.

No guess on FJ! Even going just "Blah blah blah Texas landmark" and nothing else left me high and dry.

Lach Trash on C. S. Lewis. A pastor quoted Mere Christianity a couple weeks ago, and I also have a hymnal that hilariously misrepresents a quote from it. (Opus -- you interested?)

Would Major League Baseball have been enough for the Arizona Diamondbacks clue? It didn't even occur to me that they might've wanted a more specific answer. Would've been a coin flip if they'd asked me for a BMS.

I think part of my mental dead-end was that I didn't know the Alamo had any religious significance. I thought it was just a fort. So "Catholic" misled me into thinking maybe there was a famous church or religious-themed structure (like something along the lines of the Christ the Redeemer statue).

I'd think they'd have to accept it, since despite being two different leagues, MLB is now considered one entity.

Today was the third surprise proposal I've seen on TV this month joining the Emmys & Big Brother. Evelyn got off light for an easy chat segment.

It was an adventure to see the game as my first try out of Columbus went to the local news. I switched to Flint/Saginaw and got the game from the chat to the end and got the first segment out of Rochester.

On Reddit Michael confirmed an inquiry that his niece (nerdy girl with glasses) Gabby (David tribe) is on this season of Survivor.

The FJ! clue had me make the mission connection to be done quickly even though I kept thinking during the music just in case some other detour came to me.

Evelyn is doing well so far with things in the medical field coming up in clues.

There was a question last season where "Major League Baseball" got a BMS for which league a team was in. It proved to be very controversial online.

Edit: Here it is

Am I a jerk if I rooted against Michael because of the proposal? I just intensely dislike public proposals, especially on TV or on the Jumbotron at a ballgame. In this specific incident it also felt like the act of someone who was overconfident that they would win. Maybe I'm projecting but I wouldn't want to propose on the day I lost on Jeopardy.

If they were so confident of winning, they'd save the proposal for their second game.

In other news, 7/22 is not an approximation for pi--you have to use the day/month convention to get that to work. I think "22 July, or 22/7" would be acceptable if the writers have their hearts set on salvaging the clue.
