This is the deciding game for match number 2. The winner today gets to come back automatically next week to compete as a finalist and play for $1 million. Re: Wednesday, February 27, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Ken vs. Austin vs. Julia in the battle of the captains DJ! round went:
Ken: 18
Austin: 8
Julia: 2
Ben Ingram went out with a solve on the FJ! clue while there was not enough on the scoreboard for him to get the team to the wildcard game.
That had to be a stressful time for Team Colby knowing nothing until Alex delivered the good news. The team dancing had me imagining a Kenny Loggins song playing.
The FJ! clue officially went 2/3 although I suspect Roger would have got it right if there was a necessary wager attached to it. With 0 bet Roger went for humor and the Wheel of Fortune bonus round letters.
The clue was a miss for me as I only was able to do Havel to Czechoslovakia. I made up a phrase of “Prague Progression” to have something on my paper. I needed Chris Harrison and choices to have solved the clue.

Total (or should I spell it 70741) domination for team Ken.
Julia netted $8333 per correct response, I wonder if that's a record. Monica might challenge her there, if team Ken takes down the mil.

Re: Wednesday, February 27, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
At the beginning of this tournament, I claimed that FJ! wagering in the 2nd game of the first round of matches was the most complicated we've seen on the show. However, both games had scores going into that FJ! that made the wagering very simple. There were only a few minor decisions to make:
Team Ken: As you heard them say, nothing they did mattered. Matt called that a "double lock".
Team Austin: Once they realized that 1st place was out of reach, all they had to do was not wager too much to let Team Julia back in the match.
Team Julia: They understood that they were locked into 3rd place in this game so as one of them said ""We're wagering against a number". I think they made the right decision to try and double up. I might have left a few hundred dollars in reserve, though, to defend against the other team missing in an attempt to double up themselves.

Why does Monica lean forward and down whenever she rings? That looks terrible.
I am so sorry to see Team Julia go. Now I'm not sure whom to cheer for in the wild card game or the final.

Re: Wednesday, February 27, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I'm devastated that Team Julia has been eliminated as they were one of my favorite teams. They were just unlucky with the clues and with the fact that they were up against some very tough competitors in Team Austin and Team Ken.
Just a person who loves game shows.

She was faster than Seth or Leonard; it's hard to disagree with something that works.

What? Is that not the one you were thinking of?

Not that I was expecting anything else, but holy crap that was vintage Ken. I honestly wish we could get at least one Ken vs Larissa round, but it'll probably be Brad both times.
Was not expecting Team Julia to bow out so quickly; between this and the FJ miss, a brutal match for the captain. I wonder if either of her teammates could've slowed Ken down; probably not.
BTW, is that $50k each, or $50k split three ways ($16667)?

I swear Ken doesn't sleep or age.
"These Ray-Bans"? You mean there's more than one kind of Ray-Bans?!
Ran Circus, and surprisingly, all but $1,000 in Shooting Blanks.
NHO "save the date", thus meaning I had all but $200 in 4, 3, 4. Poll request on that one.
I had some gets today that I was really proud of: Russo-Japanese, gunboat diplomacy, supercontinent, verso. No idea how I knew all of those but not "viscera".

Roger's FJ! response was amusing, and closer than I would've ever gotten. You could've spotted me "velvet r_____" and I still would've missed this one.

I've definitely heard of the Velvet Revolution, but I didn't know the term was used in that sense, and also, when I saw Havel's name, I thought of Prague Spring instead. I just said "peaceful transition." Simple, I know, but I had nothing better.
Another Ken vs. Brad final in a high level tournament? I guess we should just expect this by now, but still, I can't wait to see it. The rest of the tournament is definitely must see TV.

Me too. Czech, Prague Spring was the only thing that came to mind. The Talking Mime wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 8:01 pm I've definitely heard of the Velvet Revolution, but I didn't know the term was used in that sense, and also, when I saw Havel's name, I thought of Prague Spring instead. Shocked that no one got Five and Dime, especially after Seth set it up for them.
Ruling on Homo sapiens sapiens for Cro-Magnon?
Really sad to see Julia/Ben/Seth out. Julia and Ben are my two favorite contestants ever. Hope they're back for more special events in the future.

When they ask for "this 3-named historian" does that mean all three names must be given? My brain malfunctioned and coughed up Delores Kearns Goodwin on that one. I knew it didn't sound quite right for some reason, but Dorothy sounded even worse.

At least you didn't call her Mulva. Or Joseph Puglia.opusthepenguin wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 8:18 pm When they ask for "this 3-named historian" does that mean all three names must be given? My brain malfunctioned and coughed up Delores Kearns Goodwin
