I've gotta say these games are not very exciting to watch. Every day is about the same. Somebody text me when he loses.

I read somewhere about that later Grant-Lee meeting. The discussion was something about building railroads, and Grant said something like "in our time, you and I have had more to do with destroying railroads than building them".

Lee didn't laugh. He wasn't too jovial a guy.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Spoiler
The Jeopardy site now has a "James Holzhauer Tracker" page, here: https://www.jeopardy.com/contestant-zon ... er-tracker

I'm thinking, why would they bother creating a page like that now if he loses sometime soon? We could very well be watching James for the next while.

And yet, sometimes one of those scrubs steps up and wins and you end up regretting not tuning in.

Plus, these opponents are not scrubs and the skill level of his opposition is mostly unknown, other than the few who have kept up with him for at least a little while.

Whenever the loss occurs, it will be a shocker. Until that happens, keep marching on as I know this is never happening again.

How do you know that? How is it even possible to know that? For over a decade, Maggie has been saying Jennings's streak would never be repeated. How could she know? And is she now being proved wrong?

13/14 correct in FJ = 93%
Season 35 correct FJ average for all contestants is: 53.28%
So his chance of losing is 7% * 7% * 53.28% = 2.7182% which makes his chance of winning 99.728%.
The streak of games probability becomes lower than 50% after 254 games.
Get comfortable. :D
Not to get into too much of the weeds, but the FJ % assumes one person independently. For at least 1 person to get it right out of 2, the odds would be 1 minus probability of both contestants missing: 1-(1-0.533)*(1-0.533) = 78.19%. Granted, that's a ceiling as 3rd could be the only one who gets it right but still loses, or 3rd isn't playing at all. Still means a lot of games under these assumptions.

Yeah, it assumes one other person in contention only. But I should be using the probability of the second highest player going into FJ getting the FJ response correct - which is slightly higher at 56.34%. So that decreases the length of the streak a little bit. Really just messing around though and wanted to throw out a far out "over 200 games" prediction.

James is now 13/14 in FJ.

As far as I was able to search, Austin Rogers is the only other person who played 14 FJs with only one miss. Austin's second miss came in his 16th FJ.

More seasoned J! historians: feel free to correct me.

Rebranding for Season 36--Beat Down City! Johnny Gilbert takes on the additional duties of in-house DJ to break the monotony of James' continuing streak.

Ah, thanks! I remember him setting the 12/12 record, but I forgot that he too played 14 FJs. So it's a 3-way tie at this point?

I wasn't able to catch this game, but an interesting connection I have to one of James' challengers: Claudia Walters served as the vice mayor of my hometown of Mesa years ago, and I remember getting the chance to meet her once back when I was in elementary school -- she was either talking to my school class or my Scout troop, I can't recall exactly. Small world! :)

Thank you for always leaving a little LSV trash to collect as I got the actors on Monday and all three from this game.

I hate to criticize someone's opinion, but I can't see how this isn't enjoyable to watch. Watching a master at work is always a pleasure.

That.

(To be completely honest, though, I mostly watch to see what I know. It doesn't really matter one whit to me who wins or by how much).
