The way this game was going set up an interesting possibility. If the other two players finish in the red, James could easily go all in on FJ thinking that it would be a win regardless - but if he misses on that FJ and winds up with zero he would not return, right? That would be quite a way to go out.

Yeah, he seems just like a guy who didn't even check the rules of the game before somehow stumbling on the stage.

It's a bit of an obscure rule and I was raising more as an amusing possibility.

The Geography ones have been so easy during James' run. I think I've only missed one since he started. East Neighbor or Mountains. Clingman's Dome/Chisholm Trail are the ones that may take a moment but Sun Valley is such a common ski resort nowadays. It's like Jackson Hole #2 in that part of the country.

Congrats of 2 MM win but I'm getting tired of the fake smiles. Hope he gets knocked out by a one-timer so there's no Part Two.

It's like the first thing contestant coordinators say in the green room. "Remember, you can't win with zero!" They used to accompany it with a bad piece of wagering advice; I don't know if they still do.

Scores at the end of the Jeopardy! Round
James: 24600
Sam: 2200
Susan: minus 600
New record. This is the kind of game in which I really wanted him to find all the DDs to see what kind of bets he would make. Only thing is I wonder if he would have been able to come up with "pruning hooks."
I can never get prune as a verb in my mind. It's such a prune.

I beg to differ. I don't think for a second he's going to seriously answer Las Vegas when the clue specifies Idaho. If you ask me, he's circumventing the new shout out rule.

I could be wrong, but that's what immediately came to mind.
that is exactly what i thought

DJ! board was tough. There's a Stephen in the Bible?!

Idaho + Bright... uhhhhhhhhh....... uh.... Oh! Sun Valley, that's in Idaho, right? After so many clues where I've just stared blankly, this one felt good to get right.

Much like how everyone ignores the fourth through ninth words of "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall"?

I confess I missed Pharaoh because I thought they wanted a specific name. At least I remembered the word "pharaoh" when it actually won me something...
Spoiler
you know all of that, but didn't know pretty woman was a movie?

Because it could reasonably be pronounced that way.

He could break Ken’s record next week by averaging $91,034 per game.

I'll be honest, I didn't know the answer but Pitbull was the first to pop in my head.

I thought we were going to see something special after the J! round with James setting a record and the other 2 contents doing abysmally in comparison. By not getting any of the Daily Doubles in DJ! it shows how much luck does play a role in this game. He was well on his way to smashing the one-day total again.

Easy FJ, 5/5 for the week. I thought pruning hooks was an easy DD. :geek:

Phonetic mispronunciations are acceptable. If you pronounce it how it's spelled, you're good.

That was a rough one, wasn't it? Not something you're likely to guess if you don't know it. I thought Sam's guess of "rake" was decent. I agree it would have been interesting to see James get this clue. I got it right, so that must mean I went to a better seminary than Ironhorse. :D
