The relative results of South Africa, Australia, Japan and South Korea here could be Exhibit A in the landmark ‘Is TD Gambling or a Game of Skill?’ case.

Re: TD 432 - Throwback III (Q1-Q2 revealed)
I have no idea what the President's Cup even is and wanted to drop it but needed the drop worse later. I figured Gary Player being from South Africa would make that answer a fairly safe bet.

Re: TD 432 - Throwback III (Q1-Q2 revealed)
This was an awesome question! I knew this existed back in the day as a counterpart to the Ryder Cup for the rest of the world, but have not heard anything about it at all, even before the Ryder Cup became a competitive thing.
You punk'd a lot of boardies with this one! I'll get down and keep them company soon .

Re: TD 432 - Throwback III (Q1-Q2 revealed)
All I know about her is she's done a crap-ton of snarky commercials for Hilton Hotels, and I vaguely recognize I've seen her in something each time she shows up there. I guess that's one step up from a Kardashian...or demonstrates how very old I've gotten.

I think comparing her to the Kardashians is a bit harsh. I loved the Pitch Perfect movies, even if they sort of diminished in quality (as a lot of trilogies do), and I thought she displayed some semblance of actual talent there.MollyQMurphy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2019 1:34 amAll I know about her is she's done a crap-ton of snarky commercials for Hilton Hotels, and I vaguely recognize I've seen her in something each time she shows up there. The city is located on an isthmus between these two large bodies of water (not Elliott Bay) [scored separately] (Puget Sound, Lake Washington)
Both winners of the Seattle Bowl (2001-02) were from this eastern conference (ACC)
This highest point in Washington can be seen from the city (Mount Rainier)
Sea-Tac airport is a hub for this 5th largest US airline (Alaska Airlines)
Downtown is passed by this north-south interstate (I-5)

Re: TD 432 - Throwback III (Q1-Q2 revealed)
THAT'S where I saw her! Thanks. The only one who really registered for me in that first movie was Rebel Wilson, so that's probably why I was vague on her. Haven't seen the others.SenseiCAY wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2019 1:21 pmI think comparing her to the Kardashians is a bit harsh. I guess that's one step up from a Kardashian...or demonstrates how very old I've gotten.
You're right, she was fine in that.

I had 2 coin flips where I picked the sheep instead of one that wasn't used.

I originally dropped the Seattle question and then switched and went with the sheep.

I've learned to tread cautiously around sports questions because the sports knowledge of several folks here (including yourself) is VERY deep. I know people think along the same lines as you do. Luckily for me, I just couldn't quite pull Redhawks. U of Seattle is back in D-1 now, but my college basketball knowledge mostly lies in NCAA March Madness 06 on the Playstation (:D) and U of Seattle wasn't in that game.CasketRomance wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 3:32 pm two others went with redhawks? disappointed...thought it was going to be a singleton
I got lucky on the ACC clue though.. not only that no one else picked that one, but that I considered the Big East before realizing that a Pac-10 centered bowl likely wanted a big-name opponent, which you're more likely to get in the ACC. (Disgruntled Boston College football fan here, a Big East school at that time. Looks like there were only four or so competitive Big East teams that year). That lucky break (sort of) makes up for the fact that I talked myself out of my own damn home state in favor of Arizona in Q4.
Looking forward to the rest of the reveal.

that is true...have learned that people on here do have a decent amount of sports knowledge, but that school was one i thought nobody would know since they are relatively new to division 1...i learned their name their first year back in divsion 1 when they beat the crap out of obama's brother-in-law's oregon state by like 50 as close to 50 point underdogsthreearruda wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 10:21 pmI've learned to tread cautiously around sports questions because the sports knowledge of several folks here (including yourself) is VERY deep.
