Damn, Alex was cold. After the J! round: "Kirby, you're not off to a good start at all today..."
She picked it up in DJ! getting $3600 followed by solving the FJ! clue.

Giant killer goes down in next game. Not always, though today.

First male winning a game since November 19th.

NEW MILLENNIUM TV seemed like it went through the old SHC valuator as the top clue may have been the most difficult as that stumped the players as well as $600 while $800 & $1000 seemed the easiest. 5/5 for me no matter the order and for watching it is a mixed bag of:
All, 1, none, none, all

The FJ! clue had Kirby go the short way like I did while Rodolfo took a longer route with, "Become the first woman voter." Either works while Dagmar let money and title slip away.

Dagmar betting $11,111 seems slightly familiar so perhaps cheezguyty can find a previous example of that bet? And I should have asked yesterday if the orderly $4,567 has ever occurred.

cheezguyty: If you don't mind more fun how about today's DD clues being found in 26th+22nd+29th spots for 77 total and when was a higher sum for the DDs hiding so well. Thanks.

77 or higher is "a few times a season" common. The last time was 2019-07-09 (30+24+27=81). The record (dating back to Ken's run in 2004) is 2007-11-30 (30+26+30=86).

Here's a nice timeline of women's suffrage and candidacy. From the timeline: 1866: Elizabeth Cady Stanton was the first woman to run for the U.S. House of Representatives, even though she was not eligible to vote. She ran as an Independent from New York State, receiving 24 votes of 12,000 that were cast. 1872: Victoria Woodhull, a stockbroker, publisher, and protégé of Cornelius Vanderbilt, ran for president of the United States on the Equal Rights Party ticket.

Coryat: $34,200 (44R, 3W)
DD: 3/3
FJ:
LT: SWAT, Huey Long, rack and pinion, Cynthia Nixon (DD)

What would the response be for vent instead of fissure in Earth Science $2000? BMS, outright correct or outright wrong?

Melissa Prepster in 2005 and Van Lane in 2010 both wagered $11,111 on Final Jeopardy. A year ago Noah Link ended the game with that score, as did Josh Perkins (twice!) in the 2003 College Championship.

I couldn't find any previous $4,567 wagers, though I did find two $5,678s, a $6,789, and four $12,345s.

To that I can add June 8, 2001 and November 25, 2003, when the first and third DDs were the last clue on the board and the second DD was found at clue 27.

These players really seemed to be going all out to avoid finding them.

Ran Yuletide Traditions, bombed Battle Losers and Resting Places.

I've heard of quiche but had clue zero as to what it was besides "food". Weird when $200 is my only miss in a category.

New Millennium TV for $200 seemed too open-ended. I tried to roll a D4 on Survivor/American Idol/Big Brother/The Voice and came up with the wrong one.

The Little Prince was my only miss/NHOI in Children's Books.

All but current in Earth Science, all but Apple Jacks in "Ack!"

What was the TOM for Napoleon on Resting Places for $400?

Female doing something important in Wyoming in the late 19th century? Must be voting.

It was all for naught though, as she needed to wager something to have a chance to win.
Seeing her critical fail in that manner added insult to injury, for being the one to replace Jennifer Q.

Sorry to see Dagmar go. I thought she was a good player and I wanted to see more of her knit scarves.

I overthought this and went with "registered to vote" since the date was September instead of November. I'm counting it as "close but no cigar..." :x

Coryat 40,800 (47R, 2W)
DD 3/3
FJ :(

I vacillated between "vote" and "get elected governor" and chose the latter even though it felt wrong... my hangup was that I assumed the ban on women's suffrage prior to 1920 was federal. TIL that wasn't the case.

Some days you're the hammer, some days you're the nail. That's got to sting a bit after such a strong performance yesterday.

I wrestled with FJ trying to come up with some alternative to "vote". The date just seemed wrong for an election. Fortunately, nothing as likely came to mind.
