A multitude of musical "M"s.
In January Eminem (Marshall Mathers) released his new album "Music to Be Murdered By".
Coming at the end of March, "The Mike and Micky Show", a companion album to the current tour by the surviving members of the Monkees.
And in February, Mandy Moore's first album in 11 years, the frustratingly M-less title "Silver Linings".

Kobe Bryant, the former Los Angeles Lakers star and future NBA Hall of Famer, has died in a helicopter crash in the Los Angeles County suburb of Calabasas. A five-time NBA champion with the Lakers, Bryant was recently passed by LeBron James for third on the list of all-time NBA scoring leaders.
Edit by mod: Kobe's 13-year old daughter Gianna was also killed in that crash, as well as 7 others.
Watch the Oscar-winning 2017 animated short Dear Basketball, based on Kobe Bryant's retirement letter and directed and animated by the great Glen Keane:

Billie Eilish has a huge night at the 62nd Grammy Awards, winning Album of the Year and Pop Vocal Album for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Record of the Year and Song of the Year (a songwriter's award) for "Bad Guy", and Best New Artist. (The album also won two engineering Grammies for her brother, Finneas O'Connell.)
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

Per the official Grammys website, these are the 2020 awards, even though it's pretty much music from last year.teapot37 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 11:45 pm Billie Eilish has a huge night at the 62nd Grammy Awards, winning Album of the Year and Pop Vocal Album for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Record of the Year and Song of the Year (a songwriter's award) for "Bad Guy", and Best New Artist. That makes her only the second artist ever to win Best New Artist and Song, Record, and Album of the Year in a single ceremony, after Christopher Cross in 1981.teapot37 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 11:45 pm Billie Eilish has a huge night at the 62nd Grammy Awards, winning Album of the Year and Pop Vocal Album for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Record of the Year and Song of the Year (a songwriter's award) for "Bad Guy", and Best New Artist. One of them wrote and recorded the quintessential yacht rock hit, "Sailing." The other's middle name (one of them; she has three) is Pirate.seaborgium wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 1:17 amThat makes her only the second artist ever to win Best New Artist and Song, Record, and Album of the Year in a single ceremony, after Christopher Cross in 1981.teapot37 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 11:45 pm Billie Eilish has a huge night at the 62nd Grammy Awards, winning Album of the Year and Pop Vocal Album for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Record of the Year and Song of the Year (a songwriter's award) for "Bad Guy", and Best New Artist. At the age of 18, Billie Eilish is the youngest solo artist to win the Grammy for Best Album, eclipsing Taylor Swift. I mention this only because Taylor Swift is a J! darling, having been mentioned at least 64 times in clues or correct responses since 2008.
Also, Michelle Obama became the second First Lady, after Hillary Clinton, to win a Grammy, winning for the audio book of her memoir Becoming in the Best Spoken Word Album category. Jimmy Carter is still the most decorated political figure, having won three Grammy awards.
Film composer John Williams took home his 25th Grammy, winning Best Instrumental Composition for his “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite.” Hungarian-born British orchestral and operatic conductor George Solti is still the all-time leader with 31 Grammy wins.

Graphic Novel Wins Newbery Medal for the First Time
The writer and illustrator Jerry Craft won this year’s John Newbery Medal for “New Kid,” the first graphic novel to receive the prize for the most outstanding contribution to children’s literature.
“New Kid” is about a 12-year-old boy named Jordan who lives in New York City’s Washington Heights and dreams of going to art school, but his parents instead enroll him in a prestigious private school where he is one of the few students of color.
“The Undefeated,” written by Kwame Alexander and illustrated by Kadir Nelson, won the Randolph Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished American picture book for children. An ode to African-American life and accomplishments, it includes references to slavery, the civil rights movements and black heroes such as Langston Hughes, Gwendolyn Brooks and others.

Worth noting that it happened the very day before Kobe died, and Kobe's last tweet congratulated Lebron.cinemaniax7 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 2:57 pmBryant was recently passed by LeBron James for third on the list of all-time NBA scoring leaders.

"American Dirt" by Jeanine Cummins has been chosen as the latest entry in Oprah's Book Club. The novel, about a Mexican woman who flees to the U.S. with her son, has been criticized as cultural appropriation.

Kansas City Chiefs def. San Francisco 49ers 31-20 to win Super Bowl LIV. It's their first championship since Super Bowl IV in 1970, and the first title for KC head coach Andy Reid.
KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP.

And just to clarify, the Chiefs represent Kansas City, Missouri, not Kansas City, Kansas.

Says who? Yeah, they play in Missouri, but I'm petty sure they "represent" the entire metro area across both states.1stlvlthinker wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 12:32 amAnd just to clarify, the Chiefs represent Kansas City, Missouri, not Kansas City, Kansas.
Edit: just now saw the President's Kansas post which clearly prompted this post, but just because he's only half right doesn't mean we should only be the other half right.

Movie follow-up to Suicide Squad: Birds of Prey (My instinct is to look at the longer title name, stars & character names for a J! clue and noting that it's in the DC Universe)

XFL trying again: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XFL_(2020)#Teams (Linking to teams as something that could be helpful for LL or Think Differently perhaps more than J!)
Diane Keaton memoir: Brother & Sister
If you have IQ points to spare to lose then read this about teen slang: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/par ... 456251001/
