The Rick Grimes clue made me laugh since there was an Andrea, Michonne and Aaron playing in the game. It was appropriate that Michonne knew the actor's name and Michonne did not need a katana today to get the lock.

Nightmare game for Aaron spending a lot of it in the red and losing all of his 2600 on DD2 having Doc Holliday as a vet.

A little better play by Andrea and she could have made her sole solve (MacKenzie-ism of double L not withstanding) of the FJ! clue work for more than pride with the $2000 for second already guaranteed. Not to be as this week appears to be carousel week at the #1 spot.

In thirty seconds I don't know why I could not solve that FJ! clue. Each time I thought of a place I was in the territory trap such as writing Puerto Rico and having to cross it off. I started a G for Guam and had to stop. It's not that hard and it's not uncommon history, yet I joined Michonne for being stumped.

What I needed to do was turn it into presidential and think of Truman for 1946 to work from there.

The players were 1/5 on big clues and six clues were not seen. Part of the fault goes to Michonne at chat time and Alex not being able to shorten that portion. Pete Wentz would disagree of course.

For what it's worth, Mark, it doesn't take as much time to reveal just two responses to Final Jeopardy instead of three. (I expect that had Aaron made Final, there would have been more of that interview on the cutting room floor.)

Instaget FJ for me.

What was the name of the band she mentioned during chat time? I couldn’t understand her.

The cat story curse strikes again.

In Andrea’s spot I bet it all. No risk and you might get lucky if the leader might make a math error.

My local listings still had the show shunted over to the digital subchannel due to March Madness, so for the second straight day I've 'enjoyed' a MASH rerun instead of Jeopardy.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

That’s what I thought she said but I wasn’t sure. Sorry if I sound like TPH, but I don’t recall hearing their name before. I suppose I could have googled Pete Wentz but just didn’t think about it.

Coryat $36,600 (43R, 0W)
DD 2/3
FJ

Not Aaron's night for sure. I felt bad for the guy. I thought Andrea was going to win 2-3 games at least. I did appreciate her use of "Where is ___?" on a geography clue. The little things....

Second night in a row I've missed DD1.

I don't think I've ever studied the history of the Philippines formally; the only real political knowledge I think I have of them is vague memories from my childhood of Marcos and Corazon Aquino. Maybe we did a little in American History? I dunno. Any regional historical knowledge of the East for me would be from when I was in fifth grade. Hence, NOT an instaget - or any form of "get" - for me. I didn't even get as far as "1946 - hey, that's the end of WWII".

Looking it up in the Archive, this clue was basically a third row J! round clue back in 1987....but at least it was a Triple Stumper. I mean, it was "The United States granted independence to this country on July 4, 1946", but I had translated enough of today's FJ! to at least get that far.

A little surprised that "convergence point" didn't get accepted for "vanishing point", but I'm no artist. I said "vanishing point", and I guess "convergence point" isn't officially the term. I actually like the term "convergence" here, since you find this point where two lines converge. But a term is a term is a term...

Surprised at the TS for arsenic, as "poisonous element" with no other qualifiers is usually As or Hg, and Hg got eliminated.

Ouch for poor Aaron. He done messed up with the phrasing as a question....a LOT in the first round, I noticed.

And they're just tossing out clues left and right nowadays - 6 today. Remember that run we had earlier this year? 12 regular shows (plus 10 ToC shows) in a row with 61 clues revealed. Alex should have another chat with the producers.

Ran Adjectives for Animals and surprisingly, First Modern Olympics. Certainly counterbalanced my four negs in that round, two in the $2,000 boxes.

Hear Here for $200 seemed YEKIOYD. I guessed Radio City Music Hall.

"Pastel" can be a crayon?!?!

Lakes & Rivers was an 0/5 for me. I was trying to say "Salton Sea" at $400, but had no clue on the rest.

What went independent in 1946? Hell if I know. I had literally no idea that we had any dealings with the Philippines ever.

I was full of precalls for the Olympics category, esp. since it was in the second round and I expected more difficult clues. I expected them to ask the name of the guy who won Greece's only gold medal or at least to name his event, but when they got around to it it was like "name an event that lasts 26 miles." Really? Also expected mention of Baron Coubertin (Sp?) but he was a no-show. Then the DD clue completely snockered me. Oh well.

I also never knew the Philippines had ever had representation in the US House, so I learned something today. I ran through Hawaii and Puerto Rico and dismissed them both because neither Is a nation. Philippines came up next, and in plenty of time.

Good game overall, except for the poor guy who acted as if he didn't belong up there at all. Had to be a miserable half-hour for him.

TIL that the U.S. owned a colony or whatever the hell that Philippine thing was about. :?
We have a telegraph line that goes coast to coast? What am I supposed to do with all my California based homing pigeons? This project had the worst publicist ever if I am just learning of it 159 years later. I assumed the word transcontinental was invented for the railroad project.

I wondered how they'd create 5 guessable clues from the 1896 Olympic games. 96 feet for the discus? I'm sure the 5 pounder they threw was less user friendly, especially if it looks like the famous statue (like a manhole cover).

I was going to comment on the length of interviews, but I think Ontario Q 'splained it (with extra FJ time leftover).

I think Aaron got the trifecta for the "al fresca" response, which was negged for being wrong on 3 levels - that's gotta be an achievement! 1) wrong language = wrong answer 2) wrong vowel ending 3) not in form of question. Tough day, didn't seem to be nerves, it just goes that some days you get the bear and some days the bear gets you :D .

I guessed Panama, thinking of the Canal Zone, I guess, since the country itself was independent in 1903.

Panama was my guess, too. Can't say I ever knew that the Philippines had representation.
