Notable Coronavirus Deaths
Sad as it may be, there are already quite a few to fill in.
Ellis Marsalis, 85, New Orleans jazz musician better known as the father of jazz musicians Wynton and Branford Marsalis. Many years ago, I was invited to a small party at a convention, and his trio was the entertainment. Everyone else was busy schmoozing, but I sat there and listened for most of the time I was there.

Allen Garfield, a.k.a. Allen Goorwitz, was notable in the eyes of many who love film. He was a longtime character actor who studied at the Actors Studio with Elia Kazan and Lee Strasbourg. He passed away at the Motion Picture Retirement Home. His long career included appearances in such films as Nashville, The Conversation, Bananas, The Candidate, and my personal favorite of his, The Stunt Man, in which he played the screenwriter to Peter O'Toole's mad director. He also had a recurring role on the Chicago Hope television series.

Probably not as well-known as some of the others, but a name I recognized: Hal Willner, who was a longtime music supervisor at "Saturday Night Live," and a music producer who put together a lot of multi-artist tribute concerts and tribute albums. (He's been getting a lot of social media tributes from both musicians and "SNL" alumni.)

Since this one seems to have flown under the radar here, the world of voice acting lost a long-time performer, Julie Bennett, last week from complications.

Having never heard of the program, this one really confused me when I read it yesterday since I knew the only game Milton Bradley ever created in his life was the Game of Life...Newhausen wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 2:52 am Mathematician John Conway, best known for creating The Game of Life "program", passed earlier this week. Re: Notable Coronavirus Deaths
I always thought of Conway's Game of Life as being an late-80s/early-90s era screen-saver, but maybe that's just me. I'm pretty sure I used it for my old IIGS - it was mesmerizing to look at.triviawayne wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 10:07 amHaving never heard of the program, this one really confused me when I read it yesterday since I knew the only game Milton Bradley ever created in his life was the Game of Life...Newhausen wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 2:52 am Mathematician John Conway, best known for creating The Game of Life "program", passed earlier this week.
