Learned League 85 - Official Thread

Well, looks like the Commish snuck in the schedules for the next LearnedLeague, starting on Wednesday, May 20. A Keystone has 28 players, so there will be 2 of them I don't face.

(And I wish Anne-LeePixel the best of luck in the Psychology and Behavioral Sciences ML finals.)

Interesting -- A Lyceum also has 28 players. (Of the two people I don't play, one has beaten me twice, and the other has lost to me once, so I guess it's a wash.)

I thought all A rundles always had 26 players.

I am in a 24 player D rundle. I haven’t played either of the ones I face twice.

My A rundle has 26 players, including the first notable ronin player in a while in BahnamanS (Lampy).
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

Let's try and get more than myself and the 12 foot boy in the JV (C,D,E rundlers) JBoardie private rundle this season...assuming the 12-footer sets it up!

I'm in Horizon for my twentieth (!) straight season and A for my seventh straight. How have I stayed in A for so long? My career QPct is under .600.

There is enough luck involved.

If you have a math question and your opponent is 0-999 on math questions, and you give them 3 points, then they get it correct...well if that happens enough, you're probably going to lose a few you "shouldn't".

If you're the one getting those 3 pointers you're not expected to get, you'll get some bonus wins.

You can also be lucky to be forfeited against by someone who "should" beat you; or if you're 999-0 on Classical Music, and for some reason you are given 3 points for that, more bonus wins.
Total game show career losings = $171,522

It will definitely be set up and you have just given it a name! The original "B" team was not meant to be aspirational, and JV is pitch perfect (better than my politically incorrect "dumb room"). The door is open to any boardies

I think I'm caught in a trap. I went to name/set up the rundle:
Your membership is set to expire before next season. To sign up for a Private Rundle, you must first renew at the Premier Member level (to join) or Commissioner's Circle level (to create or join).

No prob, go to ante up another year at CC level:

Via Paypal/Credit Card
Click appropriate button

LL85 registration has closed. While the LL85 schedules and Rundles are being set, online payment of LL membership dues is temporarily suspended.

Payments received subsequently will apply to eligibility in LL86.

I really don't know why I can't create this private rundle. LL86 starts on Aug 19, and my dues expire on Aug 11. Does anyone have a suggestion? I will drop an email to the commish to see if this can be reconciled.

Joined League: May 9, 2019
Last Payment: June 28, 2019
Expires: August 11, 2020

If possible, we will have a JV rundle. FWIW, I have recruited 3 twelvefootsibs to play as rookies and hope to populate the dumb room in LL87 with them for all of us to abuse  .

Meanwhile, I am in Taiga D div 2.

Private Rundles have to be set up before Rundle placements are made. Final Registration Deadline was May 13, that cutoff applies to PR as well, I believe. Once you see your Rundle assignment, it is too late.

Thanks for the dope slap.

Big rookie mistake by me. I was waiting for this LL85 thread to animate and act as my stimulus for setting up and recruiting. I hope the regular JBoard A teamers got their act together.

Consider this the announcement for LL86 JayVee season  . The LL85 JayVee is cancelled due to COVID-19. Sorry about that ClassicRoadster :( . Next time!

Unfortunately I was distracted by the Architecture ML and it wasn't clear from the LL frontpage when private rundle set up was needed....see you next season!

Sorry all, I didn't get my act together in time for a private rundle.

Best of luck to everyone! I'll be in A Magnolia for my 18th season. The goal is to win it, but I'll settle for a few good gets along the way.

Good luck, everyone! I've been looking forward to the new season.

I'm still a little miffed about the Ducks One-Day last week. Although I finished in 34th place, I should have been third. I was counted wrong on one of the questions that I actually got right. I did send a message to Thorsten, but he never corrected the scoring error.

The question was:
As tight end Kyle Rudolph found out when he played the game in a touchdown celebration, only 49 out of 50 states call their circular tagging/callout game "Duck Duck Goose". What's different about Minnesota's version? The Swedes have two names for the game, and the Minnesotan one comes from the name "Anka Anka Grå Anka".

These answers were accepted:
Spoiler
DUCK DUCK GREY DUCK, GREY DUCK
and I put:
Spoiler
goose replaced by grey duck
which actually seems technically more correct to me.
