If this is how Mike Richards thinks Jeopardy! should be judged, I think he's going to see that a significant part of the viewership is going to vehemently disagree with him.

The Internet is going to blow up. What a great way to make the show go viral on day 2 of the season.

Cory won yesterday even with an opponent going 2/2 on DDs in the DJ! round. Today she got a runaway with an opponent going 0/2 on DDs in the DJ! round.

I found it hilarious that the players could not do LXXVIII in the PIECES OF "EIGHT" category as Ken is the guy who can do a lot more with Roman numerals in blazing time.

The FJ! clue had me write the correct spelling for first and last name and put the pen down. All during think time I considered whether I had the wrong guy and should switch to QJ. Glad I stuck with first instinct.

Yes, the incorrect first name spelling will be a poll option.

Nice title defense by Cory and I got the answer to her wake up call from one of the many things posted online about J!'s new season. She got up at 4:00 a.m.

Well, similar to season 1, this season's 2nd episode is going to generate a lot of discussion.

Can't figure out why this would be judged wrong with all the phonetic statements Alex has made over the years. This should be a warning to contestants not to use first names, although we all know nothing will change that.

Quite surprised only one player actually "got" FJ.

Not often in a lock game the winner doesn't have the highest Coryat. I'll bet the cheezy one can let us know how often that has happened.

seriously asking since there seems to be an issue here: Isn't "Barry" pronounced different than "Berry", and therefore, in keeping with rules, since pronunciation changes with spelling, "Barry" is incorrect?

Of course this could've been avoided if she just used the last name, and this is good reason why to only use last name unless asked BMS.

As usual, I write down my first thought just in case I need the full 30 seconds.

Wrote down Spector, knew it was wrong, wrote down Gordy just under the wire.

How would you pronounce them both?

Because I would pronounce them both like the tail end of "strawberry".

It doesn't matter for Betsy, but I agree, the Jeopardy! social media mailbag 'bout to blow up.

Detroit sent me to Motown, which sent me to Gordy, but then I jumped to Quincy Jones for reasons inexplicable. 0/2 for the new season.

In my accent, they are pronounced exactly the same.

Here's something from Wikipedia about it:

Seemed a little odd to refer to him as just a "producer" since he was at least equally well-known as a record company executive and songwriter.

EASILY one of the worst calls the judges have made in a very long time, possibly even the worst ever! I mean seriously, what in the world is so phonetically different about "Barry" compared to "Berry"? There have been MANY other misspellings that were far more off that the judges accepted in the past.

Granted, it wouldn't have made a difference anyway since Betsy was going to wind up in 3rd place no matter what bar Cory or Ted pulling a Cliff Clavin, but this was still a terrible move on their part and any backlash they get for this is well-deserved IMO. I've defended some of the decisions Jeopardy has made in the past, but I can't defend this one.

This will be the link: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6822

with the game complete in 60-90 minutes from now. Gonna take a little lunch break now.

It was very awkward to spell out "eight" for the PIECES OF "EIGHT" category responses as I kept wanting to use 8 instead.

Brings to mind the time the show had a Rhyme Time clue that rhymed "Grant" with "aunt", but the contestant who responded pronounced them in a way that didn't rhyme.

It's in the archive: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=2970

If Ken gave an introduction to the Ken category I would probably video-link the title of the Ken category.

To me these rhyme.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but I'm not even sure I'm aware of the difference that's trying to be pointed out, if, in fact, one exists.

I'm aware of the clothing brand "Burberry" which, as I understand it, pronounces the first two syllables identically, as "br", as in, "Brr, I'm cold." I thought that was kind of a British thing.

But everyone I have ever known of American origin has pronounced "strawberry" as rhyming with "straw-carry".

Also I've seen the musical Motown and TV shows about Berry Gordy and I've never heard his name pronounced "Brrr-ee".
