This is one of those rare instances where I will always remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news. RIP Alex, and thank you for a lifetime of priceless memories.

According to the article I read, Christmas Day.

A nice last Christmas present for the fans but sadly it won’t air in a lot of markets.

I saw that his last day in the studio was October 29.

As long as there is television, Alex Trebek will never be truly gone.

Thank you for helming one of the greatest shows ever in history.

Om Shanti.

I am sobbing. Being on Jeopardy is my life dream...4 stints in the pool...it will never be the same without him.

I'm probably more upset about this than I have a right to be. I didn't really know him, beyond a few casual chats. But he's been on my television since I was about five years old, which was when we got our first TV (B&W, 17"). He had children late in life, but he got to see them grow to adulthood. I feel terrible for his family, although it could not have been unexpected at this point.

2020 still sucks.

We all know that one day we would hear the report of his passing but still, sad and shocking. Goodbye Mr. Trebek.

So sad. Just this past Friday, his interview with Burt touched on his disease, and how so many people write about watching J! with their grandparents. I didn't quite have that experience with one of my grandmothers, simply because my she passed away - from pancreatic cancer - in March of 1984, just a few months before the rebooted J! would air. But we watched lots of game shows together - it's probably how I reinforced a lot of my letters and numbers as a child.

My other grandmother and I enjoyed Alex very much - I'm sure we watched many, many shows together with him at the helm. I thank him for 37 years of service as Jeopardy host, and many years before hosting other game shows that I've watched in reruns and on YouTube.

J! won't be the same without Alex. Hopefully the local markets find a way to air his Christmas show as a farewell - I know it's often preempted, and a Saturday goodbye just doesn't feel right. There may be a new host, but he'll never be replaced.
