Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020
I got 11 right and didn't even qualify in my rundle (I was sixth)! My moneying wasn't superb, but it wasn't terrible either.
The one I missed was "50 Shades of Grey." I put "Divergent."

Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020
Not mine either, I only got 4 for my worst MSC only getting wagyu, hawkeye, Harvey and PG13. Even the sports one had a lit tilt to it. First thought was Fifty Shades but the whole master of universe and snowangel part threw me off. Only other one I had a chance on was the Supreme Court and I did remember it was related to a president, went with Monroe.
ETA: Count me as one of the people on pace for highest TCA this season. I am on pace for 89 TCA, previous best is 87.

I have to give credit to Andy Dufresne for getting the Harvey the Rabbit question.

9/12, missing Wagyu (NHO), PG-13 (I did know it was letter letter-number number), and Hawkeye (which on reflection sounds better than leatherstocking). I'm not sure how I defended because I didn't know where to look just now, but I did manage to top my B rundle.
Ginza was my proudest get, and I knew Courage because I know the actual Courage from work (you wouldn't think he had to work, huh).

I'm smart and I want respect.

Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020
I got 7 but managed to land 418 points and get in the 94th percentile somehow.
Putting "Ginzo" instead of "Ginza" hurt.
Still learning the famous supreme court cases. I missed "Marbury v Madison" and I missed "Plessy v. Ferguson" on Final Jeopardy a few weeks back.
I'd never heard of "Harvey" and I couldn't pull "Baader-Meinhoff".
PG-13 was a bad miss. I was waffling between it and R. I should have known R was around before then.
Where do I see the % correct for each question? I can't seem to find it.
Edit: I must have been given credit for "Ginzo". The "One-Days" tab on my profile says I got 8 correct.

Computer vision, used for challenges to tennis line calls, same name as a Natty Bumppo nickname? "Pathfinder" sounded pretty good to me, and I moneyed it.

Nice work. I got 11 right for only 408.bluejaylink wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 6:42 pm I got 7 but managed to land 418 points and get in the 94th percentile somehow.
You need to scroll down past the league results. %incorrect is shown as the first row in the results table.Where do I see the % correct for each question? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks I see it now. Moneying is probably too strong. Maybe he should raise the base rate for a correct answer from 15 to 30. I'm sure this has been discussed before. This Is Kirk! wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:38 pmNice work. I still don't know why I got credit for "Ginzo". I can't find anything online to suggest that it is correct. Oh well, I'm not complaining. I had moneyed it so it's 90 extra points. So technically I got 8 right.

As a data point, Ginzu was not counted correct.bluejaylink wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:57 pmThanks I see it now. Moneying is probably too strong. Before you complain about your moneying, realize that you finished ahead of me and I had 10/12morbeedo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 3:02 pm 8/12 on the Mid-Season Classic. Sub-optimal moneying but good enough for a Top 10% finish and Rundle qualifier - though not a great overall finish for Taiga (64th place!)
Surprised that Marbury v. Madison played harder than Wagyu
Got credit for Beider Manhoff (for Baader Meinhof)
I might have pulled Hawkeye and The Velvet Underground with a little more time.

Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020
my coin landed on its side, so I only put the last name and got credit.
I considered putting a first name, as that would be the norm in this situation, but because there is no way to be asked BMS in this game, and because it didn't say "first and last name required" as has happened in the past, I only put the last name figuring I would give the wrong first name if asked anyway.

Mind blown! IMO this is a pointless question if the first name is not required, as Emily so obviously points to the Brontës. Lost the coin flip (Anne / Charlotte) and the match 6(5)-9(6)Volante wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 9:59 amLookie Mr Fancypants over here knowing the rules and all! *ooOooOOo*triviawayne wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 9:47 ammy coin landed on its side, so I only put the last name and got credit.

Completely botched it by not only adding Anne, but by also giving it a 3. I deserved to lose in wasting the 3 I got for the symphony.morbeedo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 10:14 amMind blown!
