Two of the people in the second game linked have a hyphenated last name. Does that really count as three names?davey wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 4:57 pm "3-Named" is not an unusual J! category. Usually all 3 are given, but in this case 3 out of 5 were not (and one of the others was a stumper)- Alex specified the full name wasn't needed, though...

This time, they "need all three."

Welcome to the 5-timers, Brayden!
7/10 (B)
Other Notes:
Alex’s message at the beginning was brilliant and touching.
Did anyone think about the classic Family Guy clip when Alex said “Kebert”.
Count me in as another one who immediately went w/ Robinson Crusoe for FJ!

It's the end of the journey that counts.

"Quixotic" is pronounced /kwikˈsädik/.
[/quote]
Says who?
Given the Spanish pronunciation of Quixote, I pronounce quixotic as “keeh-otic”. Makes a lot more sense that way.
(Hmmm, not sure why the quoting is messed up...)

Alex's message seemed to me to indicate that he knew this was it for him.

Yeah, that is weird.
"Oxford Dictionaries", which is what you get when you Google search the word. But I grant there is not complete agreement on the pronunciation. Merriam-Webster and OED list the variants \ kwik-ˈsä-tik \ and /kwɪkˈsɒtɪk/.

Guessing something to do with the slashes in the quote but it seems to work ok here. Wacky.

I'm also in the "kee-hotic" camp. Not totally sure, but I seem to remember a high school classroom discussion about adjectives derived from literature, such as Dickensian, Lilliputian, and quixotic. I think the discussion included the difference in capitalization in common usage.
But that was a distressingly long time ago. We were also following the Nixon/Humphrey campaigns in current events.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

From just within the past year:
#8220, aired 2020-05-22 THAT WORD IS QUITE A CHARACTER $800: This adjective based on a Cervantes character includes a hard "X" sound, unlike his name

I don’t think I would have had trouble with that clue, but absent that kind of rationale, I’ll stick with keeh-oticRobert K S wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 8:36 pmFrom just within the past year:
