Shoot...

I know Alex wanted to leave a final 30 second message on his last episode, and I wish he was able to do so. The montage at the end was very nice nonetheless.

Unfortunately from what Mike Richards said, Alex didn't think his was his last episode.

I was really hoping they'd find a way to cut that bit. So sad.

Idk if I’d have gotten credit for it or not but I’m guessing “sugar glider” wouldn’t have been taken on DD3? It’s what I said at home because that’s what the referenced marsupial is called to my knowledge.

Somehow it still hasn’t truly set in for me that this is it. Maybe it’ll be Monday when Ken is in the host’s spot, maybe never. I don’t know.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the opening credits Monday.

Here we go :( :( :(

Bitcoin which is an environmental disaster and should be banned on those grounds alone

I think "Solzenitsyn" should be negged

Anyone else sometimes get Neville Chamberlain and SIR Neville Marriner twisted around when speaking?

Chuck Yeager was still living when this episode was filmed, but he has of course since passed

Borzoi, however, is correct. з and ж represent different sounds with different places of articulation!

"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for spending the time with us." Thank you for spending time with us, Alex.

Coryat: $43,200

J: 24R5P1W. Got DD. 5/5 on Tech and Brooklyn. 4/5 on Little Things and Christmas Movies.

DJ: 25R3P. 2/2 on DDs. 5/5 on Hit Songs and Library. 4/4 on Flight. 4/5 on 6-Syllable Words and Cross World Clues. 3/4 on Dog.

FJ: Took me a second, somehow I came to "paradigm" first then noticed the first phrase of the clue.

LT: Bitcoin, McKinley, "Come Together," prestidigitation (I was proud of that one)

We will miss you, Alex. I was actually wearing a shirt I got for Christmas that has the "Final Jeopardy" logo. Loved that tribute.

Ran Christmas Movies and "Bing".

$400 was the only one of the Hit Songs I didn't recognize, but I still went 3/5 in the category. Blanked on Marvin Gaye, and haven't listened to "Come Together" in a long time.

The river kept me from running Cross World.

Library was 0/5. Strangely, I also couldn't pull anything in the Dog category.

I kept getting snagged on "different forms of one basic substance". Kept trying to chase after the Greek prefix for "equal" but it kept slipping out of my brain. I don't think getting the "iso" part would have twigged me, seeing as the rest of the clue was just not adding up at all.

Who was the last champion of the Alex Trebek era of Jeopardy!?

A: Jim Grant
B: Jim Gilligan
C: Jim Howell
D: Jim Summers

To me it would not work at all unless a "Bob Denver" hint was added.
I was thinking earlier in the week how there was going to be a bit of irony with a guy named Gilligan on the very last episode of Alex Trebek Jeopardy.
That had me rooting for him a little, but it was a shame that Yoshie had to lose on the circumstance of that last clue in DJ.

Another bit of Irony: One of the TS responses was Prestidigitation. I think the only time I ever heard that word before was in an episode of Gilligan's Island.

I bet many tears were shed in front of tv sets through the country. I have a lump in my throat. You are forever with us, Alex.

This is an FJ which is easy to overthink as the name of the lady and even the Greek roots are a distraction...I reworded it in my head as "what is the term for different forms of the same element?"

I don't see any reason to change it at all right now.

I regret that Yoshie lost, and her interview was a worthy one, but that moment was iconic: Alex holding the screen while saying his signature phrase Oh, sooorry, one last time...
Remembering isometric and topography for FJ would have helped, but the clue rang no bells at all...
That montage packed a lot into little more than a minute.

Chuck Yeager was also mentioned in relation to breaking the speed of sound in Alex’s first episode in clue J7.

I know he said it, but I like it better this way...he kept doing exactly what he loved doing right to the end.

I've been wondering if we would find out he secretly did tape that 30 second goodbye for when the time came, in case his real plan the entire time was to never stop hosting (if he could).

"Element" would have been a useful word for the clue....I know, too easy...but I was trying to think of a word encompassing solid-liquid-gas-plasma...

"Different forms of the same element" would be allotropes. That's why the clue threw me off for a second. I wouldn't call an isomer a "different form" - it's just a different mass.

runs: Bing, 6-syllable words, '60s songs (No Age of Aquarius, tho! ;) )
DDs :D :D :( (guessed wombat)
trash: little strokes, McKinley, Come Together, prestidigitation, discontinuity
FJ: took a few seconds, but sussed it out
guessed terpsichoreal for terpsichorean. :x

And so it ends...

I’m sure I’m missing something obvious, but what is ironic about this?

This is Gilligan after the Professor has explained to him what prestidigitation is:

Gilligan was not known to be very bright.

Not at all. I just know what a stickler they are for added or missed plurals.
I'd rather cuddle then have sex. If you're into grammar, you'll understand.
